Is there a scenario where Artata and his players are so nervous now that they will collectively shit their pants if we manage to keep it tight for 70 minutes or so and then start to up the tempo? We know an early lead to us will mean fuck all, so I'd rather we conserve energy from the start, shithouse them like crazy, make them frustrated and then crank it up to 12.

There's more chance of Paul McCartney releasing a 170bpm makina cover version of John Lennon's Imagine featuring an MC Tazo rap in the middle eight and it goes to No 1 in the charts in every country in the entire world.

Only reason I don't think it will be a hammering is because they are simply not set up to score like that.

They'll win but it will be boring and lifeless.

My Arsenal mate was telling me how he's "checked out" at this point.

Top of the league and in the CL semi-final. My heart truly bleeds like.

I get it tbh. Imagine being onto your 3rd or 4th end of Newcastle 95/96 in a row. One was enough to scar me for life.

Miley back at RB then.

Midfield 3 of Tonali, Willock and Ramsey - Bruno to come off bench again, although, quick possibly we will see Woltemade in midfield.

My Arsenal mate said something similar. Not that he's checked out, but that it's like being in a slow motion car crash after being in a number of other slow motion car crashes in recent years.

He was at the Sporting game and said people around him were up out of their seats screaming abuse at players for the tiniest of mistakes.

Woltemade in midfield.

Please for the love of God no. Not fair on him whatsoever, I'm convinced that spell of playing him midfield has gone a long way to destroying his confidence.

The proof is in the facts - we've gained more points with him as a forward than anyone else. Either play him upfront or not at all imo.

I can see it being pretty close, they’re under massive pressure now.

I don't see him playing again like.

I'm not looking forward to trying to replace him but hopefully we get a good fee for him....and he leaves the country.

Early in the season he looked so good dropping deep into a 10 area and building play with quick feet and passing, but then there was no one getting ahead of him centrally to make the most of it.

I think the intention of playing him in midfield was probably for him to play as more of a 10, but it seems like wherever he plays he drops deeper than he should ideally be, or maybe Eddie's system just didn't allow him the freedom to play like that.

Yeah like in theory you would expect the league leaders do the business comfortably.

But combination of just how Arteta has them set up (I don't think they would comfortably do anyone rn ) and the extreme amount of pressure they're under I would like expect them to win but also not make it easy for themselves.

If I were a flaky team with a history of bottling it/blowing up in the home stretch and was feeling nervous and had little room for error, then this current version of Newcastle United is exactly the sort of team I'd want to play at the minute.

We're not going to threaten them much going forward, we're soft as shite in the middle of the park, don't have a great deal of physicality elsewhere, and are basically guaranteed to concede at least one soft goal. But apart from that, Arsenal will be shitting themselves.

we should do something radical and unexpected.

Theory

- Yes, only 1 goalkeeper can handle it, but having three standing in the net surely has a strong psychological effect

- Counter attacking? How about Osula and Barnes employ the long-fabled counteractive sideline mechanism, lying off the field before sporadically sprinting towards Raya seemingly at random, while screaming. This will have a  strong psychological effect

- Airtime! Task the players with kicking the ball incredibly high at all opportunities. This limits the amount of time Arsenal can attack, cause neck pain and have a strong psychological effect

- Put in extremely high, vexatious bids for every player on their team, causing immense psychological stress

Yeah, the supporters will be shitting themselves, but this Arsenal team will steamroller us at the moment.

I'd prefer Gillespie over Ramsdale, that would be my only change.

They are in full on bottle mode right now, any other season I'd say we stood a decent chance of actually beating them, but surely they have too much for our bunch of flakes, even with their bottle gone. another 2-1.

                         Pope

             Thiaw Botman Burn

Trippier                                       Hall

                Tonali     Bruno

Murphy                                   Barnes

                         Osula

Drives me mad that we're yet again back in "can't be any worse than..." territory with these shite goalies but, Christ on a bike, Ramsdale against Arsenal's set pieces? 🙃

Other key thing here is that it's bunged full of the entire leadership group. Need to be looking to these lads now to eliminate the dismal softcockery that continues to ruin our season.
