Thomson Mouse
I don’t want to leave SJP but if we need to then we need to accept that Leazes Pk is the best option, Castle Leazes is actually a pretty good name for a new stadium there
Rafalove
Could build a cheap temporary expansion of the gateshead stadium then return it back to its original capacity when construction in st James’ park is finished
Hovagod
I also love the sound of a novelty season at Gateshead or Sunderland. Would be a fun, unique little thing.

Is it that historically important? No. Yes. So historically significant that it is full of students. Makes total sense.

That has absolutely nothing to do with its heritage significance, also, only about half of it is student accommodation the rest is houses/flats. Dokko
I think SJP has more historical significance than leazes terrace. But I'm biased. Should build over the top of it and turn it in to shops/museum. Better use than it is now if it's full of tax dodgers.

It was built in 1831 or close to that date, not that old: heritage? It is built in the same style as Grey Street, is that it? When they built Eldon Square shopping center a whole chunk of the city was altered: what is the vast difference here?

number37
T. Dan Smith gave no fucks. Thankfully, times have changed. The city would lose far more culturally than it could ever gain financially if similar things were allowed to happen again.
midds
Leazes Terrace is essentially untouchable. Not quite sure why moving/selling/buying/relocating it is ever mentioned, let alone every other week.
OverThere
Oh Oh, the woke squad are here. A building constructed in 1831 which is used as student accommodation and flats is "untouchable". Ridiculous Edited February 28, 2022 by OverThere

Ridiculous Is it the current use of Leazes Terrace rather than their architectural style the reason as to why it could be perceived to be expendable? It's a genuine question. I suppose there's an element of weight behind the idea that a building's use can have an impact on its value, although usage is temporary, they weren't always used for students and if it were gone then it can't be used for anything ever again. TBG
I'll knock up a design later showing how the ground might look if we were to build down. Hopefully it's taken seriously this time and put forward to the relevant parties.

It's a Grade I listed building, that puts it in the top 2.5% of significance of all listed buildings. Let's have less of the Dunning-Kruger.
