Suppose it's much harder to knock birds about when you're in a goldfish bowl, no wonder he never moved up here.

Another week melted away with nothing tangible achieved, then. Can't wait to see what next week brings, I'm sure it'll be a good un.

Knowing Hope, it probably means the key negotiator from the Brentford side was pat & mick yesterday and that's slowed it by a day or something.

Yes, do exactly that, but do it quickly and decisively and then have a viable Plan B and Plan C being worked on. We're slow operators who are bidding low and hanging around a transfer deal like a bad smell until a big boy comes along and barges us out of the way. That will happen regardless, but we should have learned that by now after multiple deals have gone in that exact fashion. Speed is the key element - either win by getting in there before the other big boys can sort their shit out or realise, or fail quickly and move onto a defined back-up plan. We're doing neither of these - we're giving our competitors an age to muscle in and then standing around moping with our tiny little crossed out list of players scrawled on the back of a fag packet.
-
The system isn't making us stick to this tiny list of the same dozen players for years on end and then stand around wringing our hands and looking all sad when we do get gazumped. The PSR system is utter bullshit but we've made it as hard as possible for ourselves. There's hundreds of players out there that would improve us in a big way but we've decided to put all our eggs in that tiny basket rather than hedging our bets and being more flexible with transfer targets.

Wouldn't blame him if he decided to jack it in, pending the outcome of this window. If he's had enough of the bloody cowboy outfit upstairs I could completely understand it.

Good thing we pissed around with this one not getting it done for two fucking years. This is like the Anita/Bowyer summers all over again. Great chance to kick on and either the inability or the unwillingness to do it.
-
Isn't Isak crap anyway and Ross Stewart is better? Don't see why they're making such a fuss.
-
Seems a broad brush view that we're leading the queue for this one across most journalistic outlets - really need to get it secured and move on. If we get into next week and Wissa crumbles like the other moves I'll start to feel like we won't have time to get the 3 in minimum we need.
-
Hope seemed fairly confident we'd get our man during his last update, and as we all know he tends to report a negative/realistic (delete as appropriate) slant on nearly everything whilst the likes of Waugh, Puke etc get suckered into thinking things will all pan out for us. Don't feel like he of all people would say that if there wasn't a good chance we pull this one in.

I see Neckless Erik Ten Bob at Bayer has said Xhaka won't be going anywhere.
-
I was already pro-Wissa but remembering the frequency that he attempts biceys for no good reason is another tick in the box.
-
1 in 10, apparently. That seems a bit high.

What we're buying here (if we don't manage to fuck this one up) is what Wilson was when he first came in, but with a bit of a better non-pen goal record, better availability and more versatility across the front line.
-
Spurs have: Son Richarlison Solanke Kulusevski B Johnson Kudus Odobert Tel To play across their front three positions, I don't see why they'd need Wissa. You can potentially add MGW to that as well.

1-in-3 PL striker in his prime years for £30m is good business IMO, we'll get 2 or 3 good seasons out of him and then there'll be a way to recoup some cash albeit not selling at a huge profit after that. He'd be such an upgrade on Wilson as the second striker choice it's not even funny.
-
Can't wait til that sweet late Spurs interest scuppers this one because we decided to haggle over a couple of million.
-
just wait til we sit on our hands for another week before unleashing a £25m bid for Raul Jimenez.
-
I agree, I just hope he does it quickly enough for our current depleted setup to react and do the necessary deals.
-
Not on current evidence, we've had best part of two summer transfer windows following the same pattern of going for top drawer only and being rebuffed. It's the right thing to do and admirable to be so staunch towards improving the ceiling of the squad, the downside is (seemingly) the stubbornness to do nothing if we can't get those top targets when the "floor" of the squad improving would still be a good step forwards ahead of a campaign featuring lots of extra games.

Brucey in his bucket hat era. Closely followed by a bucket of fried chicken on the way home from the gig.
