They were seemingly prepared to spend another £21m in the window to try and stay up. See no reason why cant throw some of that at the best available manager. I've never felt short term appointments were right, as players know the manager is going to change again - but even if we could get someone till the summer, to try and give us a lift and get the results we need, I'd take that now. I now just don't feel confident of getting the results and points we need under McClaren. Its Sh*t or bust time.

Last week we had one of the better goal differences of the teams around us, surprisingly.... Think we might have sorted that out today.

Noticed on Look North last night, on the sports bit they were talking about todays match and showed the goals against Liverpool - they showed Johnsons' goal, but cut him celebrating, but then showed Defoes goal and celebration.

If we want any chance of staying up, we MUST start beating the teams around us... and we have Bournemouth, Mackems and Swansea at home, with Norwich and Villa away... Palace at home could be a 6 pointer by then as well. However, in my guesses yesterday, I only expected 8 points from those 5 matches. :/ I still think we may need to replace McClaren if we want to stay up, as WBA didn't really turn up today, but we still didn't make the game safe.

Whoever they want, I just hope they line them up and get some sort of agreement before sacking McClaren... if they are gonna sack him. Last thing we need is to be stumbling along without a manager/head coach, like last time. Otherwise Carver will be on the blower!

Just gone through our remaining fixtures, and if nothing changes, realistically I can only see us winning 3 and drawing 3 of our last 14 matches, starting with a win tomorrow. Ended up 33 points at the end of the season.... possibly not enough, depending how others do. We may get a sneaky draw here and there, but wouldn't expect us to get any more than 36 pts max. Have made the assumption we'll lose to the mackems again as well in that. Something has to change.... and I think Schteve has had long enough now.

Not doubting it, but if they are thinking about doing it and have a target lined up, why not just do it now?? Surely the more games, the better for the new man??!! As for Rodgers, when his name was mentioned by a caller on TS tonight, Ando made a definite 'urgh' at the mention of his name. I guess he doesn't rate him.

Hehe, so we literally have 3 (senior) 'defenders' left available.... ....and no doubt Berahino will start this match. Pity the defence was pretty much ignored in the transfer window.

I wouldn't normally expect Ashley to react to a poor run of results, especially given some of the runs Pardew went on. However, with the TV money at stake, and the fact McClaren has had substantial funds made available, then I think he might take action this time. If he is going to do it though, I just hope he does goes for the best option, even if it still someone out of work, and they are brought in with enough games to try and get the results we need. We're in danger of being cut adrift soon... and teams just above us seem more capable of pulling results out than we do!

If we stay up, when does the money actually come in from this new TV deal? If its fairly quick, then they can have few excuses for not spending. And, we already have (at least) £21m seemingly burning a hole in our pocket!

On Total Sport, they were saying that Peace has been/is trying to sell WBA, and thats his reasoning for not wanting to sell Berahino... reckoned it makes them more attractive with their main player still there. Not sure how much truth is in that.
