This myth that injured players can't complete medicals needs to be quashed.

People spout that nonsense every time there is a transfer of a player currently injured.

I always thought a medical was more about general health anyway and like someone else said, previous injuries responding normally through the healing process.

They are for general health and also to detect any illnesses or diseases they might have.

Paraphrasing (including part 2):

Feels he has a new lease of life here.

Feels his confidence is where it needs to be, and very positive and relieved to have the opportunity.

Situation he was in meant his confidence could only be dented.

Last 18 months has been a nightmare for him, basically not playing regularly.

Thankful for the chance to start again here.

Not given a chance at Villa.

Takes his job very seriously, finds it hard to rest.

Not had the backing of certain managers and members of staff.

Looking to recreate his City form.

Being used for a few minutes here and there was really hard to take.

Really appreciates the welcome he's been given by our squad, mentions friendly faces.

Heartbroken that he can't train with them yet when he's raring to go.

Deal took a long time but he wanted to get up here ASAP to get started.

Delay wasn't the knee but a few small things.

Hoping to be back in a few weeks (our specialist told him it would be four or five weeks...)

Likes getting forward and being positive and wants to help us break quickly on the counter etc.

Ideally he would like to have an opportunity like this for a full season, but probs will play 8 or 9 games for us.

Doesn't know where his long-term future will be, as things stand he'll be going back to Villa.

Some shit about the Republic of Ireland.

Family is remaining in Manchester where they are settled.

Hoping to do some gym work over the next few days with a view to being back on the training pitch by the end of next week.

Overall he seems pretty bitter about how the last year and a half has gone for him. Hopefully that translates into good performances for us.

He's an absolute head case, I hope that he does well because we need a spark and if he can produce his form of 18 months ago then we'll do OK out of the loan.

tbf the more i look into the head case thing (thought he was one myself) the more i think its exaggerated the only incident truly headcaseish is the granny incident but there was legitmate reason behind that if it was handled badly by him, apart from eccentric taste in cars and home decor which has nowt to do with his attitude on field or in training the only thing i don't get is not wanting to play for roi

Four or five weeks? So basically we'll get to use him for about a month at the tail end of the season?

I mean, I'm looking forward to it yeah, but strange loan move.

To be fair, Liverpool bought Carroll for £35m and apparently he will be out injured for another 5 to 8 weeks.

They signed him on a 5 and a half year contract where as we've got Ireland on loan until the end of the season.

I knew someone would take that post 100% seriously. Why isn't there a "not entirely serious post" smiley?

Overall our midfield is actually quite good. To have Gosling, Ireland, Barton, Nolan, Ben Arfa and Tiote is quite a good position to be in ecspecially considering that the majority are under the right side of 27 (not Barton or Nolan). I'd take them quite happily on FM 11 tbh
