Tsunami
If we're going to offload Obertan the best way is to play him during the transfer window, when his fitness is good and he may fluke a few good things. We may get a buyer. If that's McClaren's idea I'm all for it. I'm sure Sir Bob put a few players in the shop window by making others think they were in his first team plans. You can see what McClaren has done with players he doesn't rate. Fair play to him for that, but Obertan should be treated just like Williamson and Gouffran. George Bailey
Say it ain't so: http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/gabriel-obertan-wants-stay-newcastle-9853997?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Urgh, not surprised. Early mistake from McClaren. More so because he'll start and hinder better players. He'll be found out soon hopefully. 'Causing a storm' FFS!!! Don't believe he rates him personally, we'll see, but IMO he won't keep starting him once more players are fully fit.
Mole_Toonfan
Don't see no indication that the players in competition with him are not fully fit, he just rates him and believes he fills a specific role in the team. I respect that but i do think he's wrong.
KaKa
There was an article about Obertan the other day, and he was essentially saying he doesn't take time off, and trains through his holidays. He usually comes back already conditioned, and top in all the fitness tests. You can kind of see how the coaches would respect and appreciate that and want to reward it. But yeah ... the sooner the others catch up the better.

The College Dropout
No idea what he's like in the air but he's fairly tall and we are a short team. Perhaps there's that.

AyeDubbleYoo
Thing is, Aarons is a young lad who's inexperienced and been injured for ages. Obertan is a lot worse ability-wise but it's not as clear cut for a manager as some of our previous selection errors.

AyeDubbleYoo
I hate selections of shit players as much as anyone, but McClaren is always going to take his time to assess and make some conservative choices. No new manager is going to go immediately win every attacking player the fans love. There, I said it
