Yorkie
Inevitable but we paid them far too much respect in the first half IMO. Would prefer it if we didn't give up after 3-0 n all. Not fair on the lads and lasses who've travelled down to watch us. Agree. Should have tried to give them a game from the first minute. Like we played towards the end of the first half - before conceding - and at the start of the 2nd half. You mean like after twenty seconds when we robbed Clichy of the ball and whipped it into the box?
Ketsbaia
Really happy with the performance, 3-0 would've been very harsh on us. Its a shame to finally lose, but when its to a team like that there really can't be any complaints. Onwards and upwards
TRon
It's a shame because we conceded just when we'd started getting a bit of a foothold in the game. Fuck it, we'll get dumped on in the press but there's not much we can do about that. Onwards to Man U and Chelsea.
Joe_F
Think there's plenty of positives to take from this. Sammy looked very very good away at the best team in the league. Growing by leaps and bounds every match. Did OK without Tiote again. Guthrie's gotten much better. Created several clear cut chances against a mean defence. Ben Arfa played 75 minutes, looked to be much closer to full fitness, created several good opportunities. Colo/Saylor did very well. Hopefully opens the door for Santon. Not the worst result, all in all, knowing we're going to lose going in. Aye, best thing to come out of the match for me. He's gonna be a player alright. Alberto2005
Man U and Chelsea won't play as well as that.
thomas
Good showing against one of the best teams in the world. 3-1 to them a little flattering because we by and large shot ourselves in the foot but there's no question they were going to dominate and in all likelihood win this game. rocksammy
Think we did pretty well all over the park except for our fullbacks, which showed a giant gap between the teams. Sure raylor had a shocker but hes won us 6 points he can lose us a hopeful 1 . That said danny and raylor both ran their bollocks off and tried their hardest, they just couldn't help being inferior =/. Wish we had more possession from the start to keep our wingers entertained with some attacking duties, whenever they managed to get the ball they were cold. Disco
Must say, that was a proper professional win at minimum effort, title winning style performance from City like.
Hanshithispantz
Bit annoying that all 3 goals were easily avoided like.
Cronky
Man City are so strong. It'd be no surprise if they went through the season unbeaten. Ben Arfa seemed to grow in confidence during the game and his was a promising performance.
Guest
Krul - 6 Simpson - 6 R.Taylor - 4 Coloccini - 7 S.Taylor - 7 Sammy Ameobi - 7 Jonas - 6 Cabaye - 6 Guthrie - 5 Ben Arfa - 7 Ba -
Numbers
Must say, that was a proper professional win at minimum effort, title winning style performance from City like. Didn't need to put in much effort tbf, we gifted them 3 goals.
Skirge
Well am devastated we lost but we did not disgrace ourselves, two pens and a stupid mistake from Raylor.. We never gave up right to the death, and nicked one back but not taking our at times very good chances is what cost us. There won't be many teams that will play Man City and have so little possession but only concede three goals, lets not start over analysing this one. Nordstrom
It was fairly obvious that morale didn't drop after conceding those goals as there was still a lot of fight in the players despite all the energy they used in the first half chasing City's players around the pitch. I'm sure that the confidence we've have throughout the season so far won't waver because of this loss. This puts us in good stead for our next match against Manure. PENKAAA
Agree with most of the thoughts. City are an outstanding team and it wasn't a case of us playing badly. If Raylor hadn't handled and Ben Arfa didn't foul Richards, who knows what could've happened. Good performance from the lads but sad to see the unbeaten run end. Hopefully we can get something from the next two games. And Sammy had a terrific game imo, well done to him.
Beren
The gulf in class at full-back position, man. Bitter pill to swallow this defeat lark, innit. Interesting to see how/if Santon is phased in ahead of Raylor. It'd seem rather flippant of Pardew to bring him immediately, and would destroy Raylor's very fragile confidence - think we might have to wait until Raylor picks up a knock before Santon gets a chance to establish himself in the side. Alberto2005
Still baffled to why Santon didn't get at least 20 minutes with the game gone.
Jayson
Bit annoying that all 3 goals were easily avoided like. Its annoying but i suppose you could say thats the difference between the sides. As well as our players have been playing, some are still liable to make mistakes & we will lose like today because of it. Just the difference in standard, couldve been very different though. stozo
Quite impressed with the performance. We played much better second half and had we been a bit more clinical we probably could have made a game of it. It was encouraging to see Ben Arfa get some game time. The tackle for the penalty was awful but going forward he looked really bright at times. Day to forget for Ryan Taylor. At fault for both of the first two goals and got caught out a number of other times. I think it might be worth looking at Santon in the next game. Yorkie
Krul - 6. Could do nowt with the goals and made a couple of decent saves. But his ball retention is fucking rubbish - really needs to improve in that area. Simpson - 7. Good game. Tried to keep the ball when he could and put in some meaty, fair challenges. Held the line well too. S Taylor - 8. Great game, pretty colossal at the back. Coloccini - 7. Caught out positionally more times than usual today, but generally played well. Handled Toure in-particular very well. R Taylor - 3. Pretty damn poor, really. Shame for him cos he's done incredibly well this season. Well and truly caught out today. Sammy - 6. Full of pace, running and not a great deal else. A decent outlet for us though. Cabaye - 5. Seriously, seriously quiet. Guthrie - 6. Quiet, but less so than Cabaye. Grew into the game in the second half, which is the opposite of what he usually does. Jonas - 6. Thought he was alright but frequently in the wrong position defensively, particularly in the first half. Ben Arfa - 7. Probably his best game this season. Some nice touches, nice bit of pace and flair, and so close to having the cutting edge. Pretty hopeless tackle for the second pen but we'll forgive him that. Ba - 6. Held it up okay but a bit wasteful. Hope his knee's alright.
Dave
Man U and Chelsea won't play as well as that. Hope so, because I didn't think City got into their stride at all.
Wullie
Good showing against one of the best teams in the world. 3-1 to them a little flattering because we by and large shot ourselves in the foot but there's no question they were going to dominate and in all likelihood win this game. Aye, I think even without the two penalties, you still bet on them to win, they can just step up through the gears any time they want to, their bench is frightening. Pathetic pointless way to compete if you ask me but there you go. The title's theirs, just have the ceremony now, give everyone else zero points for the games with them and cut out the pointless 90 minutes of playing them. Ronaldo
I'm a bit confused why Pardew took off Ben Arfa and Sammy Ameobi, our two creative outlets. Because they were both knackered and not needed perhaps?
Guest VaVaVoom
3-1 is a fair result and today highlighted the difference in class and the weaknesses in our side. They battered us, we stood up well, they created chance after chance but we probably created the most chances a side has at their place this season. Central defence for us was solid as it has been all season and it has highlighted that fullback is our weakest area in the team and citeh exploited that. Get Santon starting and work on bringing in either Pieters or Cissokho in, in January. Guthrie showed that he has enough about him to challenge Tiote and Cabaye, Gosling also showing a bit of worth. We need more cover out wide. Ben Arfa was very good in spells, his running, vision and skill are going to be important. Unlucky not to score but should have went the other side of the keeper. Ba....decent striker, will get goals but fuck me he is inconsistent. We NEED another striker. Overall it was a good performance, on another day it could of been different, we gave a good account of ourselves and there will be lessons to be learned from this for AP, backroom staff and the board. Striker, Fullback, Centreback cover and cover for out wide needed. Priority
