It's partly them being not great players not managed fantastically, but it's also obviously the Fergie factor.  They don't feel invincible any more and, more importantly, teams aren't afraid of them any more.  But they still want to beat Man United just as much as they did when they were top dogs.

There's also loads of pressure on Di Maria to help turn their season around, especially with that price tag.  He's a fantastic player but if he doesn't hit the ground running and adapt to the league quickly and people start to get on his back he could easily suffer a lack of confidence.

Moyes is steadily regaining credibility with every performance.

He never really lost credibility, just didn't show that he could step up a level when he got the chance. Until he manages another big team we'll never really know.

he has all the earmarks of a bust imo, didn't want to leave Madrid, has to adjust to england and a league where people tackle and there are more than two good teams, huge transfer fee to live up to, massive pressure from having to save a completely s*** team, and he's a winger that doesn't like to defend on a team that uses f***ing wing-backs.

It's the same start of LVG that he had to his Bayern career.

He was "already sacked" when they faced Juventus in a CL game in October (iirc) only to win it 3-1 and him to stay on to win the league, the cup and finish runners-up to Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Doesn't like to defend

He's one of the most hard working players going ffs.

Poor Barca being referred to as not being a good team. At least I presume the two good teams he refers to are the La Liga winners and the Champions League winners

Using a French name on the forum is a really clever ruse Pards.  :)

All true except the not defending bit. Desperation signing from Man Utd IMO, not what they need and will not get them much further up the league on his own. Obviously a good player, but so many other signings are needed.

They'll come. When you can get a player like Di Maria, you sign a player like Di Maria. It's really that simple IMO.

Well hopefully for them, obviously. To me it's more of a 'make a statement' signing, similar to Mata who they also didn't have a plan for. It's about showing you've still go it, which doesn't strike me as a sensible way forward.

The long-term neglect of the transfer strategy is going to take a long time to put right. IMO they would be better off signing 5 or 6 £10-15m players, ensuring a decent season, then pushing on from there.

Assuming they can't sign enough world class players in the next couple of weeks, obviously.

It'll be a maximum of two players we'll sign. If he decides to switch formation we have enough there as it is, but if he wants to keep that 3-5-2 we need more defenders. Heard a lot of things about us making a move for Vidal by the end of the week with Hernandez as a makeweight.

We'll find out soon enough. Focused on Burnley at the minute. If Van Gaal loses that he'll surely be feeling the pressure.
