Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

Always thought Wilshere was a bit of a nothing player really. Technically decent without any real cutting edge and a bit lightweight. I'll be surprised if Rafa wants him.

I would say the complete opposite of that. Tries to do the spectacular too often. Definitely not lightweight

How's that the opposite of what I said?

"Without any real cutting edge" "lightweight"

Howay lads man! Wilshere would be a cracking signing and it would also push Wearside Jack further away from the field!

He'd be alright, I'd rather go elsewhere though. He was mostly crap for Bournemouth and injuries have taken their toll.

Someone who tries to do the spectacular too often doesn't have cutting edge in my book, just bad judgement.

Would rather we spent that kind of money on McCarthy than Wilshire.

Really? Surprised by that, I always thought that Wilshire was a cut above players like McCarthy (when fit).

Just me personally. I feel McCarthy is exactly what we need and I think Wilshire would come here to let his career die.

I don't like either option, personally would rather us take a punt on a talent from another league, we've got more than enough British lads in the squad. For what we would have to pay for either, we could get a really good prospect on the continent.

Wilshere would excite me as a signing, if he could get fit and string a good run of games together he would be class, if injuries haven't completely destroyed him. He doesn't seem to treat his body well away from the game, so those are both big ifs.

This. While obviously not a bad player I think he's overrated.

A major talent, but I fear that injury has robbed him of what little pace he had.

I seem to remember he aggravated an ankle injury when he was rushed back to the first team too soon. I don't think he's recovered yet.

A number of the young Arsenal players - Oxlade, Ramsey, Walcott, Wilshere - seem to have suffered long-term problems.

I used to rate Wilshire but my brother in law who is a Gooner says his attitude and lifestyle is not that of a pro footballer and that these days he's shit.

I've never understood the hype over Wiltshire.  There's no doubt he's very talented but he's never fit and even when he is he's not as good as the southern media make out.  He seems to believe his own hype aswell which makes him hard to like.  I hope we stay well away.

He's a very good footballer, but has that awful English disease which compels him to run around like a blue arsed fly doing not an awful lot other than injuring himself and looking like he's showing passhun and balls. Barkley is similar, Gerrard likewise although he had far more goaslcoring ability to mask that which elevated him somewhat. Compare that to someone like Lampard, a far superior player IMO and Scholes.
