Do we reckon he believes he isn't a puppet or is he just being disingenuous as usual?

He probably does believe he’s doing his best under restrictions imposed by the owner, which in a warped way is normal to a football manager.

That’s the problem with the whole situation really, it’s quite easy for outsiders to pretend it’s just normal for a club like Newcastle. That’s part of the damage Mike Ashley has done.

And Bruce is obviously impossibly lucky to be in the job, so he’ll wear it.

Hmm. Slimy Pards would happily kiss Ashley's arse but since leaving the club would cite the difficult restrictions he was working under. So he knew. And he knew he was being disingenuous. Like you say, massively grateful for the opportunity - like Bruce.

I happen to think Bruce is just enjoying the ride so far and hasn't had enough time to be wronged, as far as he's concerned, by Ashley. I doubt he knew much about Joelinton and ASM as players and the deals were already done, so were part of the package he was getting by securing the job, as opposed to them being chosen over players he would have liked instead.

When it comes to next summer, when he's pitching this player and that player but Charnerz & Nickson's Agentfavours Co. are bringing in more players from the continent he's never heard of... that's when we know he's lying, when he tells us he's happy with the squad. Pardew would have had you believe he was buzzing when we ended up with Rivieire etc.

Going from Rafa throwing a strop every press conference during the transfer window, saying he doesn’t know what’s going on and stressing the importance of doing things the “right way,” to this clown having his first meeting 15 days in and crowing about not being a puppet, with a growing injury list.

Chronicle reporting today how things will be better now we don't have this.

Thank Christ we're rid of a manager who won't stomach being misled and lied to and who works morning, noon and night for the betterment of the club.

Gandhi & MLK were also history’s biggest moaners.  People just need to stop making things difficult for those in power and just spread their cheeks wide.

That rag needs boycotting as well as the club tbh. Complicit, spineless patsies.

Good to see him celebrate Joelinton's goal with him, he's not helped the lad by running him into the ground despite lack of form, but these small shows of support will be important bearing in mind our stupid fans tendency to get on a player's back if he's not scoring goals.

These are wonderful times at NUFC

Newcastle beat high flying Rochdale in the FA cup

Joelinton, our star studded £40 mill striker doubles his goal tally

Ashley's army chanting 'Brucie Brucie give us a wave'

Ashley at the game thinking what a masterstroke, a manager on the cheap and taking all the flack, all ambition eroded and we look reasonably safe in our PL status and these fans are sucking it up

A meeting with Mike to keep the plates spinning

Oh, and it will be a lovely day out

Richie loves him:

The comments section is a blast as usual: Bruce is not as good as Fergy as he’s not managed very good clubs previously!

Once again the praise just boils down to what a great bloke he is, and how the players love him. I was expecting something along the lines of "he's far more tactically astute than he's given credit for", but like his pals in the press, none of the players can quite bring themselves to say it.
