18 points from 13 games makes him safe, a point a game is all he needs

He's in trouble then.

Exactly my thoughts.  Bizarrely some on here think we are already safe from relegation.  I think it's based on that they presume even more bizarrely that 30 points is enough.

Falling ino the trap of assuming because we've somehow managed to get a certain amount of points throughout Bruce's reign a lot of which were totally undeserved that that will continue.

We will continue to play abysmal football. If Bruce continues to be lucky despite that we'll be okay. If logic kicks in and we get what we deserve from games were far from safe.

For all the pressure and critiquing of Bruce atm, which is of course good to see, there's a disappointing lack of pointing out his personality flaws and his role as an Ashley enabler. But will take what we can get.

"With the Magpies heading into the festive period with 18 points on the board, Bruce will get the chance to go into a trio of tough games against Man City, Liverpool and Leicester, and probably beyond unless Ashley has a drastic change of mind."

"He will be guided by managing director Lee Charnley, close aide Justin Barnes and PR guru Keith Bishop, but until recently, the club's muted board members felt that Bruce was more than capable of leading the club to a mid-table finish."

"The other big factor in Bruce's favour is that Ashley likes the Toon boss as a person, and with his restricted transfer kitty going unquestioned, unlike the days of Benitez when everything turned into a political shoot-out, the United manager is reading from the same hymn sheet as the owner.

"It is unlikely that Bruce will ever push too hard on the door when it comes to transfer funds because he knows he is doing his dream job and his profile as a Premier League boss is still intact after a few years in the Championship."

Oh and they went for a steak in September apparently

The ambition of this club is frightening.

Struggle to think of a manager that’s had an easier ride in the media in recent years

I can't remember. Did Pardew get similar support ?

Yeah, Pardew broke records for consecutive defeats and hammerings, but the media kept telling us he was a good manager. These pundits will never turn on Bruce no matter how bad it gets.

He could very well be screwed more by the fixtures. We will lose the next three, Arsenal will dump us out of the FA Cup which will cause more upset and media turning the knife. Yes most pundits will remain onside but the papers are already digging and those like Shearer and Linekar will speak honestly as they have. Game against Sheffield United will be huge.

Compared to Bruce, Pardew was a good manager

Pardew - 185 games, 38.41% win ratio

Bruce - 62 games, 33.9%

Neither compare to

Rafa - 146 games, 42.5% win ratio

The pundits can fuck right off. We've got a decent and expensive team and Bruce is misusing them
