Joelinton

There were 9/10 s*** players today, Joelinton seems to be getting 90% of the criticism

Probably something to do with the fact it took him until the 39th minute to get his first touch of the ball (he lost it straight away). He doesn't even try to get involved. Playing him out wide is perfect for him because he can just stand on the touchline and keep out of the way which is what he enjoys doing most. Heads would be rolling at a properly run football club for sanctioning that signing.

Fuck me you love tripping folk up, give over man . Sad sack

What? You can't say he didn't have a touch of the ball until the 39th minute when it's absolute nonsense

There's a lot to criticise about Joelinton without believing some nonsense someone probably made up on Twitter

You could probably change "touch" to "meaningful involvement" because I agree I don't remember him doing anything until he got it on the far corner and attempt a dribble then lost the ball easily.

I watched without the fake crowd noise and its painfully obvious how much instruction you hear shouted at "Joe" from the coaches and the players. Saw Wilson and even the young lad who came on having to point and shout at him to get into certain positions.

Wilson was visible getting pissed off with everything he did.

At one point Carroll was sprinting past him to help out in defense even though it looked like it should be Joelinton who should have been helping out the defence but he was just walking back.

He's not a premier league footballer and needs replacing with anyone who can run and do something with the ball.

If he had even the most basic of attributes, ie work rate there might be something to work with, although not at Premier League level but there's just nothing there at all. From what I have seen of him, which admittedly will be less than other people on here, he doesn't even seem to move around much. Doubt he ever leaves the pitch with a sweat on. A captain such as Shearer would have had him pinned against the dressing room wall a long time ago.

We need to cut our losses and get rid. Has a couple of subpar touches on the ball per game and it's simply not enough.

The likes of Ameobi got a lot of stick while working much harder for the team and looked like Shearer compared to Joelinton.

Or we could just stop putting him in the starting line up assuming we aren't going to be selling him any time soon.

Can we not do both?

Do we have a buyer lined up?

Why were the board so keen to push signing him?  Wasn't it a sticking point for Rafa?  £40m or whatever it was for a player without a position and has never had a great goal record.  Who looks slow, uninterested, poor in front of goal and erratic on the ball.

He plays nice passes now and then and sometimes his link up play and control in tight areas is fairly good.  But you'd be expecting a similar contribution from a £5m-10m player, or someone half decent that has come through the academy.

He is pretty crap.
