OpenC
That's a shame, had a lot of respect for Glenn. Running the rule over Dirk Kuyt to the end, I hope. RIP
Superior Acuña
That's proper choked me up. Seemed a lovely guy, actually seemed like maybe too nice to be a manager. I'm too young to remember him as a player, but that spell in 2006 when he took over was one of the best times for me as a fan. The mackem 4-1 and Shearer record breaking goal under his management will always be very special moments.

Tsunami
Sad news RIP. Underrated as a player and did well as manager in difficult circumstances
GWN
Just read this , was one of the first few managers I grew up with and watched play . Bloody gentleman he was . RIP

Yeah, the post-Souness detox was extremely cathartic and that was an especially great little run. Twatting the Mackems, Shearer's record and the testimonial, Nobby's double against Everton, Shola looking like he'd finally clicked, a really satisfying win at home to Spurs... it was a tidy little spell. Too good in a way, cos Roeder was out of his depth the moment he got the job permanently imo - but a smashing bloke and an excellent servant all told. Very sad news that he's passed away; 65 is no age.
Amir_9
This has really upset me. The first manager in charge when I started following the club back in 2006. Rest in Peace Glenn.

BlackandWhite
RIP. Horrible thing to happen. Same thing is taking my uncle away within he next year, too. Absolutely horrible. I will fondly remember his short time in charge of us. We were unlucky to go out of the uefa cup that year, too. Damn the away goals rule.
Scoot
Very sad news. Seemed a nice guy. Took us into Europe after taking over from Souness. RIP Glenn.
Disco
Think that shows how respected and liked he was in the game. Always came across as an affable bloke and even though his managerial spell didn’t work out as planned the fans always had time for him and wished him well. RIP Glenn, Intertoto Cup Winner 2006. Pokerprince2004
My main memory of our season under Glenn Roeder was our UEFA cup quarter final against AZ Alkmaar. 3-0 up after half an hour of the first leg absolutely tearing them apart yet still ended up going out on away goals. Could easily have won UEFA cup that year. He also done the honourable thing of resigning at the end of the season, something our current manager could learn from Edit - Just browsed the 2006/07 uefa cup on Wikipedia and it was last 16 not quarter finals
HaydnNUFC
Fucking hell. My first season of starting to properly go to games was under him. RIP.
Lush Vlad
Sad news. Seen him a fair few times at Newmarket races. Never wanted to bother him or approach him. But always seemed friendly and I’ve not heard a bad word about him, really. RIP.

WarrenBartonCentrePartin
Really sad news. Wasn't born when he played for us but had a ST when he took over. The run he took us on from the muck being served up under Souness was remarkable and turned what was going to be a very mundane season into an enjoyable one - especially when we hammered the mackems on their own patch. Guest neesy111
Great caretaker manager for us but never should've got the job full time imo. Know he was a great servant for us as a player. Always conducted himself very well on the touchline.
Mattoon
Ah man, this sucks, RIP Glenn you were a great servant to the club, both on the field and as our manager under difficult circumstances, he lifted a dark cloud and seemed like a really decent bloke. 65 is far too young. toon25
Great servant of the club and genuinely cared. He resigned too, didn’t he? A bloke with dignity, unlike the current feckless morons that plagued the club since he left.
