We’ve been playing wingers/midfielders at both full back positions for ages. Our defenders did well under Rafa, our midfield looked a lot better. We actually have a much better team now then when Rafa left as well.
STM
If he's half decent he will be able to get a tune out of Wilson, Almiron, Maxi and Willock to get us some decent wins at home.

Especially from those that watched Dortmund on this message board. Favre plays attacking front foot football too? We would be getting more experience especially in turning relegation form teams around but not sure pragmatic or Defensive is right with favre. We’re appointing an attack-minded manager, that much is clear. Is it the best way to go in this moment? Maybe not, but I’m fine with it.

Kid Icarus
Laughing thinking about all the maniacs who scream FUCKING CLEAR IT MAN! at any opportunity having to watch Newcastle's defence constantly try and pass its way through a press.

Oh memories of the Munich friendly a few years back when Owen Hargreaves showed us how football had changed. Blokes in front of in raptures "this is brilliant, all possession, go when the times right, so fluid and in control", we get the ball, screams of "GET IT FORWARD MAN, WE'LL NOT SCORE FROM THERE!!!" Barnes23
This is well worth a watch Really gives you a feel for his approach and breaks things down in quite a bit of detail on a tactical level too. I have watched this, it just pure class. Like Rafa apart from his style of play. It's all about the details.

However, that bit where he says it makes him really uncomfortable when his team can't keep possession. He better start learning to cope with that feeling. ElDiablo
Not watching these vids of him unless he's appointed. If I do then I'll get excited and we'll get Lampard.
Kid Icarus
FWIW from what I've learned about him in these videos, I think appointing him now is massively asking for trouble. Trying to get a team that's had Steve Bruce as its manager for the last 2 years to start playing possession football from the back without already having at least the type of players to suit that style is a huge ask for a team without the luxury of a comfortable league position to allow for patience in that approach. Add to that his poor record when the players he needs aren't available through injury and his teams conceding a lot and it seems a very risky option. Rafa remains far and away the ideal option that obviously isn't available, so I'd go for someone in his or Emery's mould who's available. No idea who that is though. nbthree3
Updated article from earlier Newcastle held talks with Paulo Fonseca today as he emerges as a serious contender for the head coach vacancy following Steve Bruce's departure. The discussions did not end with a definitive answer over whether Newcastle will look to proceed with appointing Fonseca, but were said to be positive. The call is understood to have centred around Fonseca's footballing philosophy, with little focus on any potential contract. ManDoon
I think that they will spend enough in Jan to meet what fonseca wants for the team. Brentford play a pretty aggressive attacking game, works well for them
