There would be uproar among the fanbase, staff/players and sponsors if we were even linked with him. He is undoubtedly a very talented player but there's a reason he's been exiled to Spain & France, his brand is toxic and for that reason he is not a Realistic Transfer Target as the thread title suggests. Whether his partner has forgiven him or not is irrelevant, we all heard the audio and saw the images and made our own judgement based on that. The whataboutery comparisons with Carroll, Suarez etc would have it's merits if we debating the morality of supporting players with questionable values/behaviour but as it happens, we're discussing the idea of MG at Newcastle, to that, the answer is a resounding no on the basis that he's a deplorable individual who committed one of the most heinous crimes known to man. Astro’s point about previous players is valid, no point trying to avoid it. Also, our owners……Wew. In the end signing Greenwood wouldn’t be good business. He looks a very effective player but in the modern age brand association is very important and he’s a disease for any Prem club I would think. On a personal note @Astroblack, I’ve not particularly followed your post history or your PoVs but it’s clear you’re very stressed or dealing with something other than football. Lots of posters here can see that too but seemed to have enjoyed jumping on. That’s a shame and reflects badly on the forum overall. Hopefully you’ll still the waters somewhat soon. All the best.
