nbthree3
Just now, The Prophet said: I remember him being mentioned with Botman, as soon as the ownership changed hands, so there's almost certainly a longstanding interest there. Waugh and Edwards have now mentioned him in consecutive days too. Waugh's brought it up again just now

Isaak is 22, even if the fee is on the large side, you are buying a young player whose value should appreciate. I would think the wage package is doable as well. The worst part of the transfer window and the reporting on it. So much of this nothing language how long does it take to ‘prepare a bid’ was great when stuff like that happened behind the scenes and first we heard of it when the bid was actually made. Now it just seems to drag on
The Prophet
Out of interest, if Luke is accurate (it would be a rarity) and we signed Isak and no one else, how would we be feeling?

Keegans Export
Isak would be an exciting one. Like @ponsaelius I always assumed he was someone who could play wide as well as through the middle but it appears not, although if that's something we think he can do then it makes complete sense - he can play on the right when Wilson is available then shift up-front if he's missing. I still think we will make one other, a loan rather than a permanent. Someone in the CHO mould, or someone similar who becomes available once other moves are completed. Unless they're confident that Isak can effectively play wide right as well I think it would mean we've fallen short in terms of recruitment personally. Although he would be a very exciting signing in isolation. I'm pretty sure the budget would stretch to another winger if need be though. There's going to be opportunities which present late in the window - even on loan.

mattypnufc
Luke’s already been wrong about the budget. I’d say that if the right player is available, then we’d go for it, regardless of who comes in next.
sushimonster85
Isak is certainly a big flashy name that would make a statement. Part of me worries that we'd signing someone who had a good breakout season, then struggled to replicate that the season after. 20/21 - 34 apps, 17 goals 21/22 - 32 apps, 6 goals

JP
Considering a record bid for Isak would be (40mil + after previous record Joelinton fee) we did so well to sign Nick Pope for 10m and then get Botman on a free with our 50mil Luke Edwards budget this summer. Yorkie
Isak. Would fucking love us to go big on another striker like, even at the expense of the winger we need. Wilson will get injured.

Yeah overall I'd rather that than sign a couple of players who are minor improvements on what we've got (ala Pope tbh). But I don't see why we can't get a winger too personally.
