Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Recommended Posts

I’ve just not kept up to date with European football outside of Seria A last season, so unsure who would be a similar profile we could move onto next? Or we edge away from high cost striker, go high cost CM and get a more raw striker at a lower cost.

I think most on here are in agreement, be a bit disappointing to miss out on him, but the most important thing is to not let it drag on. Season starts in just over 4 weeks, we really could do with a couple in by then.

We’d be insane to get 100 million or so from Isak

Hope you mean he should be going for more than £100 Million, who would of thought seasons ago we would have one of the worlds best striker

Don’t we have a raw striker in Osula?

I didn’t realise how much of a shill for the big clubs Romano, Jacobs etc have become until this summer window. There’s probably a bit of engagement farming in it as well but it’s becoming as unreliable as the back pages rather than what’s actually happening.

Jacobs is just desperate for a job. He’s always just been a clingy freelancer frauding about in the Middle East. With all the noise following the takeover, 2022 WC and Saudi Pro League he’s managed to blag his way in as an “expert” and fluff someone at Chelsea to become their pet.

There is likely no way he goes for anything south of 150 million. To suggest that we’d be fine to sell him for 100 million is just crazy.

Chance we go back for Ferran Torres? He’s seemingly another long term target and fits the striker alongside Isak, but can also cover additional positions.

Not sure we ever went in for him did we?

We absolutely can't go into a champions league season with only Isak and Osula at the club as strikers. Eddie will play Isak in every game then he will get injured, and we will be taking Osula to Europe knowing our luck.

Impertative we get a solid dependable striker in that can share the burden of 4 competitions with Isak, while giving Will minutes too.

On Sunday, getting Ekitike was a pipe dream, I always assumed he was going to Liverpool. Realistically, all that's changed is that we chanced our arm on the off chance he fancied coming here.

I always assumed the majority of our budget will go on a RCB, GK and CM and the 2nd striker would be someone underwhelming.

We thought there may have been a deal to be done so we gave it a shot, if it doesn't materialise, so be it.

As much as long term we do need a keeper and probably immediately a CB I think Eddie sees the need to drop some serious cash on genuine attacking upgrades that will make a difference in the final third as more important - and I'm in agreement with that tbh. We got one in Elanga - if we get a top forward too we're looking pretty frightening.

Will start to worry if it drags on and on towards the start of the season though. We do really need a strong window.

Let's just see what happens- Ornstein admitted yesterday he's no clue what is happening. None of the journalists do.

He knows what Liverpool tell him

Really makes sense why every time he's on the athletic podcast he's falling over himself to praise the backroom staff at Anfield and Arsenal in particular.

Shut the fuck up about Isak you nonce, why the fuck would our stance change all of the sudden?

At this point I'm not even sure if the Liverpool and Newcastle management are thinking the same way that Romano/Ornstein/Pletti think they're thinking. The whole "sell us Isak or we will buy Ekitike" narrative is emotive, but illogical from a business point of view, no? All it does is it certainly just drives Ekitike's price up for both parties, and if Newcastle says "Isak is not for sale" (and these "journalists" keep saying that we have), then what's the point of the threats? Liverpool should buy who 1) the manager wants; and 2) is available, just like any other club. Threatening a club owned by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund is not going to work well.
