Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Recommended Posts

Just trying to get a handle on whats happening. Is this right?

We bid 70m on Monday, Eintracht want 86m. Since then no more bids from us and Liverpool are flirting with a bid possibly at 86m but not confirmed.

Meanwhile Isak's agent has let Liverpool know that a bid could be interesting becaue the agent wants to strengthen contract discussions. Liverpool happy to play along as a higher salary for Isak increases the chances of us being willing to sell in the next 12 months.

What we know is. We tried to buy ekitike and Liverpool then approached us for Isak. We rebuffed them and now they are also interested in Ekitke.

We do not know who is responsible for what or who encouraged who.

Both he and Sesko have the best physical and athletic profiles of the young up and coming strikers. They are big, athletic and quick.

However, Sesko surpasses Samu technically. The ball will bounce off Samu a fair bit and he can look awkward on the ball at times. Think Sesko is much further along in that regard.

Both have immense potential.

Samu reminds me a great deal of Taiwo Awoniyi. Power, pace, not super technically refined. Seems like we're after players with great technique, as much as possible.

No bid from Liverpool why would he prefer them then?

Just made up nonsense until they actually place a bid down and I bet you it's not higher than ours.

They'll be hoping the anfield sway will get him cheaper.

I mean, would I want to join a club that was only buying me out of spite?

I’m imagining you typing this with tongue firmly in cheek. As in nobody can seriously believe that this would be a reason, even partly, for that kind of spending.

The candidate list for 'who encouraged' cant be very long?

Arnaud Kalimuendo/ Jonathan Burkardt/ Nick Woltemade/ Mohamed Amoura/ Tolu Arokodare/ Daniel Karlsbakk/ Samu/ Willem Geubbels/ Victor Osimhen/ Rômulo Cardoso.

There you go, plenty more fish in the sea.

I don't think they needed any encouragement, and the timing of it suggest the encouragement was us buying ekitke and replacing Isak in advance.

If your pointing the finger at the nebulous isak agent your pointing it at Isak as his agent is working on his clients behalf.

Yeah, you're not wrong. It can all look a bit awkward at times with them getting a hold of the ball.

Samu is still really young and so has time on his side to continue to improve, but work still needed in that area for sure.

And the massive caveat to all of this is that all of the information is coming from journos on Twatter, so there’s a huge amount of speculation and lies to get clicks. As well as agents and clubs paying them to push an agenda

So it’s best to assume that 99% of what you read is absolute bollocks and meanwhile in the real world, what will be, will be

If we don’t get him, no problem. Use the money for Scalvini and  from Atalanta (or players just as good). Trafford hopefully incoming.

Find a back up 9/10 type, maybe a project player and crack on.

Not pointing, just trying to work out whats happening. If Liverpool have been encouraged and thats true, it can only come from a limited list. Nothing about the transfer market suggests to me that agents only place anonymous encouragement to clubs with the express permission of the player.

I liked your summary anyway.

I'm thinking Liverpool need to sell first.

They apparently spoke to us about Isak but made no offer and they said they'd pay more than us for Ekitike, but again made no offer.

They need to shift Nunez and seeing if Diaz fooks off.

People seem to be shitting themselves at the thought of us having Isak and Ekitike in the same team.
