NUFC Transfer Rumours

Ffp is fucking stupid. You can’t bring in commercial deals of any large value because it has to pass a smell test review by a committee of people who may tell you “nah, that deal is too high for your club. It’s not market” and it keeps anyone with ambition down. Good luck growing commercial revenue smaller club, it’s a closed shop.

It's a joke that we can't even afford James Maddison wages yet Arsenal can go and spend £200m + already this summer and still have room to bring in a few others. De gea is on nearly £400k per week at Man United ffs. Even finishing in champions league spots we are still at a massive disadvantage compared to Spurs and Chelsea who we finished above, how are other teams supposed to become even remotely competitive? All that's happening is the gap is getting bigger and bigger between the top and everyone else.

The deck is stacked against all the outsiders for sure. But we spent nearly two decades falling behind. It's going to take more than 18 months to catch back up.

Don't think it's and FFP issue per se. Just don't think we'd want to pay that £60 million all upfront if we can avoid it.

I think PIF uses 60m as walking around money. Avoiding it is better.

Zaha's non-penalty xG+xA per 90 has been hovering between 0.24 and 0.38 for all but one season (0.53 in 17-18) since 2014. Crystal Palace hasn't obviously been very exciting during that stretch but Zaha has always been the main man.

Looking at our numbers from the past season:

Wilson 0.95

Gordon 0.58 (just 469 minutes though)

Isak 0.53

Saint-Maximin 0.53

Willock 0.50

Murphy 0.47

Almiron 0.41

I really don't see how we should break our wage structure to sign someone like Zaha, he's just simply not worth it. And I don't see him working well with his attitude in an intense system like Howe's.

Quoted to highlight Murphy being above Almiron, who doesn't cross the ball and will not register expected assists. I'm a bit surprised Isak isn't higher, and suspect his numbers must have dropped off as he was played wide. The numbers were higher earlier in the season.

First question with Zaha is "does he press?" because if he doesn't, that's less output than ASM for another passenger.

I don't see why he would accept lower wages from the 'richest club in the world' if Crystal Palace are offering him £200k. I don't see us offering UCL as any kind of pull either when he's been happy with midtable obscurity with Palace for almost a decade now.

Because he'd likely only get £200k from Palace and Saudi Arabia. No other club would give him that. I think if he wanted to stay there he'd have signed the contract by now, so maybe it's not just about getting the biggest deal he can.

Of course he might go to Saudi because they've offered loads too, but it's not impossible that he'd prefer CL football at say £130k a week to mid-table mediocrity on £200k.

It isn’t anything new though.

We can complain all we like, but in 5 seasons time we’ll be up there too, and someone else will be complaining about us.

There is only one way to end FFP and FMV……..a legal challenge, its a restriction on trade.

How am I being daft ? He’s got close to 50 goals the last 5 years in a terrible negative palace side. And whose place is he taking ? He’s a better winger than Gordon, Miggy, Maxi, Murphy and Joeltinton so take your pick.

Joelinton played 15 games on the left last season and finished with 6 goals and 1 assist in those games.

Had a bit of a breakout in that position and was really starting to emerge as a bit of a force there. The cross field diagonal from Schar to Joelinton in on goal being the hallmark.

All this. It’s frustrating now but in even two, three, seasons we’re going to be the ones.

Things gone very quiet on the Moussa Diaby front. With Tonali in, and if we still intend on playing a 4-3-3, Diaby would still be a fantastic addition in the right-forward role.

Getting a bit thirsty in here, I need a hint of a signing or some Tonali content asap.

Yeah whilst I love the fact the club do business behind closed doors now, I am parched for some juicy link or a video of Tonali getting out the black people carrier

If the Szobozlai release clause expires then Leipzig have everyone by the balls. They have already sold Nkunku and Gvardiol looks like hes going for big money. They have no need to sell Szobozlai and could demand stupid money. Today will be interesting if a bid goes in from us or Liverpool.

We already had 3 signings confirmed by this time last year (although Botman didn't officially go through until 1st July, we'd already announced it).

No wonder we're starting to get a bit thirsty.

It sounds like the wage stuff is as much Howe wanting to raise the wage limit steadily for dressing room harmony, as much as it is FFP. You'd imagine Bruno's new deal will see us raise the ceiling in that respect.

Take Villa for example. They're coming from a better starting  position than us, but they're still  approaching their whole "project" in a different way to us.

Easier signing players like Pope and Targett than the ones we want this year in fairness.
