Glad you're an Oracle and see the future for us.

I get your point, but we needed that starting RW position filled with quality for the past few seasons now. It was not a signing that could be afforded a year to get up to speed.

He's been dogshit overall, I agree with that. But it's still been just a few months. Murphy looked terrible for seasons. Granted it would be disastrous if it took that long for Elanga to come through given his massive price. He was always going to struggle to produce what Murphy did last season, but, yes, it's been way worse than any of us hoped. But we are only 14 one third into the season.

Issue with that, Murphy has come good but it’s not in a way we need to go to next level. We don’t need Elanga to do what Murphy does and cross well, we need someone that can take players on in tight spaces, makes the full back end up doing what Hall did today (scared to get tight / question themselves).

Elanga reaching Murphy levels doesn’t take us forward, we needed something else from our RW and so far it looks like we literally have a pace merchant that’s useful in very few situations.

The most frustrating thing about him is that it means Jacob Murphy is still first choice and we have to endure him giving the ball away countless times every match. The weakest link out of the lot.

Baffling signing that we could really have done with getting right.

Did he do much wrong apart from the poor pass to Tino at the end? I don’t really remember any standout bad bits apart from that? And I think I can forgive him for the ball at the end as part of his adjustment period here - that ball inside to the full back is a very ‘us’ ball to play but it just wasn’t on that particular time.

Its not just Murphy, our overall ball retention, especially under pressure is fucking terrible.

We either lump it away, or try and play out and give it away, either way it keeps coming back at us.

No-one has the nouse or ability to just keep hold of it, take it away and calm it down. Its bee the same for recent seasons.

Bruno even seems to have stopped drawing the late fouls to slow the game down.

His fundamentals are just so bad.

He's another Adama Traore.

The very definition of an incredible athlete, that also happens to play a bit of football.

Oh dear. Meanwhile, Minteh is lighting up that right side for Brighton.

He's got 1 goal and 3 assists from 13, which is good.  Murphy has 2 goals and 1 assist from 10.  Both definitely beat Elanga, but "lighting up the right side" seems a bit over the top.

I don't know like. Minteh looks....well...mint every time I see him. There's threat every time he gets the ball, he has bad intent. You can see he's going to be a player.

The worst thing about the player that gives the ball away often, assists nothing and doesn't score (Elanga) is that he allows the guy who has scored and assisted (including most assists and goals from a right winger last season) to be in the team.  I know goals and assists aren't absolutely everything.  But it's beyond me how people don't realise that Murphy's pass completion rate is worse than many others because he actually risks losing the ball with crosses and passes.  Which is exactly why he gets assists when he does.  While others pass the ball back he tries to whip it in or tries a risky pass forward.  He had a shite game today no doubt.  But the shite he gets is pathetic.

Not really watched him but based on what I’ve read we needed someone like Akliouche who has a very high ceiling but offered something different to what we have now. I get why we signed Elanga but it hasn’t worked and the main problem is that he can’t do the basics right. His touch and pass are horrendous, hopefully it’s confidence and that will come in time.

Murphy was awful today so we really needed a good option to replace him and Elanga was just as bad, such a shame

Don’t get why his thread is top of the page after that Joelinton showing tbh.

Easier to take it out on a player who's widely seen as underperforming than the players that most underperformed. Woltemade was head and shoulders worse than everyone, but no one will dig him out all that much. Elanga played one underhit pass to Tino as far as I can tell. Looked as clear as day he was taken down by the last man as well.
