Just been listening to Pete from Loaded Mag saying Elanga was poor away at Sunderland but "at home he is a different beast and extremely effective" [emoji38]

Loaded with what.

There'll be a mid-table team who see him as perfect. £35-40m or so would be a good fee to buy the Forest version of him for a team who play that way. West Ham seems perfect.

 That's us, isn't it?

I can't even remember the last time we actually played on the front foot and tried to maintain possession.

Our tactic this season is precisely sitting deep and then trying to counter. Exactly what forest also did last season.

We seem to be conflicted about it though. We aren't releasing the ball effectively to wide players when they are in space. We are just sitting back and getting caught on the ball ourselves before we can get the ball out to the forwards with pace.

Mate at work is a Forest fan. I asked him about Elanga

Pretty much what I've said in my last few posts.

It feels like there's a few things at play with Elanga.

1) He looks like a rabbit in the headlights. Whether it's confidence or confusion over his role, nothing is coming natural to him. At Forest, he was full of confidence, knew his role and put in good numbers.

2) I don't think we're utilisesing his strengths at all. When he picks up the ball he's usually too deep or too wide. The few times he's got close to Nick, he's actually looked dangerous.

3) I actually think he's been erratic rather than constantly terrible (he has had some really poor games though). He's in the cross hairs though so his decent or passable performances are ignored and every misstep gets jumped on. I've watched games where he's been alright, but he's still got loads of stick.

When have we played on the front foot this season? Majority of away games we've definitely been more on the back foot and without possession.

Agree he's not what we need but disagree we've played on the front foot this season. We definitely didn't on Sunday when he was once again worse than shite.

Its not been great alot of shoulda woulda coulda style moments had that 1 on 1 against villa worked he may have took off.

Right now hes sitting 3rd choice behind Murphy and shoe horning Barnes and Gordon on together. The longer the barren streak goes on the more regression and minutes we see of him.

Tactic wise I only ever see him getting balls hit long for him to chase onto which he never seems to get the right weighted pass or cant control it.

I hope it works might sound dramatic but has the ability to be a massive noose around our necks PSR wise for years.

For someone so tall he doesn't win many headers. His feet hardly leave the ground, certainly no Wyn the leap

What is he, 5 9” or 10”? Not exactly tall, is it? Same height as me.

70th percentile for aerials won against other wingers, according to FBref.

For all his faults. I can’t say his heading has been one that has stood out. Probably the least worrying part of his game

Did our scouts actually watch him play?

He wasn't worth anywhere near that when we bought him, there is no chance anybody is going to fork that amount for him now. I can see him being loaned out next season.

To a team who sit and play on the counter, a player who can get his sort of output is easily worth £40m. Those clubs can afford that sort of fee, too.

Don't agree at all there mind, he is absolute dog shit. He won't get anyone paying anywhere near that amount, as I said I think he will be pushed out on loan somewhere.

The whole "he likes space" is annoying. He likes space because he's bad. Not like there's anyone who loves constantly being under pressure and tackled. Every player likes space ffs.

I think the more accurate description is that he can only work in space
