We won’t be getting Anderson or Semenyo, but I could see Forest taking him back for 35/40m. I doubt we would accept that though, it’s a bit humiliating.

We won’t get that for him off anyone. No chance.

If you look at good teams. The wingers help advance the team up the pitch and retain possession and build attacks.
It’s a bit unreasonable to expect our team to get us up there without the wingers contributing.

THIS! The link up between our wingers and midfield is honking at the moment. The scum yesterday could move up the pitch effectively while we were nullified for most of the match.

Everyone seems mad keen on Semenyo.  But he is going through another one of his barren runs, the same as last season.  No goals or assists for 2 months, isn't it?!  I'm sure he'd get loads of support if that happened here on a regular basis

Hopefully he ends that tonight, anyway.

If we were changing strategy to be more focused on technique and vision, he wouldn’t fit the profile IMO. I’m not really a fan. He turned to dogshit as soon as I signed him in fpl as well.

We were linked with and bid for loads of players that didn’t want to come here/went elsewhere for more money. Mbeumo being one of them.

No relevance to Elanga whatsoever.

The relevance is we were looking at a winger who could produce something and ended up spending a fortune on a carthorse who struggles with kicking a ball.

He didn’t want to come here. So how is it relevant?

Did you see the chances Mbeumo missed tonight?

We should absolutely bite the hands off anyone offering 35/40m for Elanga. Even that would be an overpay for such a limited player.

I’d take £25m now for him and write him off as a terrible mistake tbh. And, even at that price, I don’t see a queue of buyers.

Not only is he fucking dreadful, he’s not even what we needed.

Our winger department needs a total overhaul imho.

I imagine he will be farmed out on loan somewhere next season. As I said yesterday, he will be the worst signing in the history of this club when the fee is factored in. Absolutely criminal that transfer.

If we aren’t planning on taking advantage of our Saudi relationship for this sort of mistake then we never will.

Ship him off to the desert.

The more you think about it, the wilder it was to pick home to start in the derby.

Hasn’t performed all season. Nothing to suggest he would be the kind of player you want in a tough environment. Only has one assist in a period where our striker is starved of service.

All the while having Barnes and Murphy available.

I guess he got picked cause he’s fast. I don’t think physical attributes should be put ahead of form.

You can kind of see the logic when we still had Isak to be fair. The Murphy/Isak combination was a big part of our success last season and Elanga on paper is a similar profile but upgraded version of Murphy.

Elanga now suddenly looking like he's never played football in his life and us ending up with a striker of the profile of Woltemade who would operate much better with a more inside forward type makes it look a lot worse.

I was quite happy with him starting. He was coming off a couple of half decent showings v Burnley and Everton.

He was woeful yesterday, but he isn't helped by our tactics, we aren't utilising our front three well at all.

The big point of difference between him and Murphy, for me, is that he’s sooooooo poor when we don’t have possession.

Annoys the fuck of me that he’s the quickest player on the park but fucking ambles towards opposition players when they have possession. He literally defends with zero intention of actually winning the ball. Just saunters up to them and does a half arsed jockey.

Murphy, for all of his limitations, at least tries to turn the ball over.

I wouldn't say I was happy but I get why Howe can't just write him off like the fans can. He has to back him to some extent and hope he can work out how to contribute. It's not like the other RW options are very good anyway.

Go on the outside and cross type wingers.

Elanga likes a come inside type of break , between CH and FB(V Villa, V Everton, I'm sure he scored against us like that) He took corners and free kicks at Forest as well.

We know this is what Howe values most, the physical attributes. He seems to have an aversion to flair and unpredictability. It's why he shipped off St. Maximin at the first available opportunity.

It's for this reason why I will always love Keegan and Robson more, despite Howe probably already achieving more than they did.
