Optimistic Nut
He's allowed 3-4 more of them before being dropped if the Pope law stands with him.

Second one is just weird, you can just about say he sees it very late but it was so slow that he should have reacted to it. Pope either saves it or stands still Funny enough I rate Pope to save their first goal more than the second one, it's the sort of save that is one of Pope's best strength's - his close distance/shot stopping reactions. Needless to say Pope's kicking and decision making has been shocking lately either way. Edited December 2, 2025 by Amir_9

He isn’t a top keeper and he will continue to cost us points. I just assumed Howe knew him a bit better than we did. His former player right?
Hanshithispantz
I don't think it's his reactions like, I think he does expect a defender to get to it but you still need to sort your feet out and get into position for the save.

He does, however we have all watched him the last few years and he makes howlers. Not sure why he would suddenly stop. We need to go out and sign an actual top keeper, easy said than done of course. TK-421
So after the clamour for Ramsdale in for Pope, he's now shite and we don't want him in now either, is that right?

Pope either saves it or stands still His fault was that he should have taken the centre of the goal after the punch, but unless he called then there would have been an expectancy that one of Burn, Thiaw or Woltemade should have cleared it, as all 3 of them looked in distance to clear it. Aiston
Just another 5-6 fuck ups to catch up to Pope for the season.
Moose
He's not the answer, he was never going to be, Trafford probably won't be either. I know it's easier said than done but we need a real bonafide #1 rather than rummaging through a bunch of 'he'll do for now' type keepers.
80
I too would like to rub in Ramsdale's performance tonight to all those who thought no one could be worse than Pope.
Yorkie
The thing that stands out for me is that he looks very small, but that might be through watching Pope for so many years. Disappointing from him tonight. Doesn't look like there's much between him and the bloke he's replaced, at the end of it all.

AdoptedGeordieFromPompey
Ramsdale is better with his feet. Pope is better as a shot stopper. Both punch the ball poorly from corners. All comes down to what you want more from a keeper - ability with the feet or stopping shots on target...

Infinitely Content
Not sure we've learnt anything new, Pope is the better overall goalkeeper, Ramsdale is far better with his feet. We have to choose between the two for now and I'd go with Pope every time. I reckon Howe will too.
