Are you lot finally going to shut up about him and stop lumping him in with Elanga now or does he literally need to score for you to be able to see his quality?

I'm not gonna lump him in, tonight was he was exceptional and should start for a while now.

I'm just scared stiff he's gonna get injured.

Also I don't even think Elanga was that bad tonight either.

You folks criticising him are being damn harsh. He’s been holding the ball and controlling it like this all season. His passing is a bit inconsistent but imo if he nails that he’s got a high ceiling. Just need our strikers to start making decent runs for him to pass into!

He’s a good player, you can see why he was so highly rated for that period at Villa.

Looked very confident and not overawed as well - maybe the prospect of a few semi-guaranteed starts is tasty for him.

Think he's going to be really good.

Always felt it was just a case of getting his sharpness back.

Very confident assertive performance, and outshone Tonali in that midfield pairing.

Both him and Willock actually managed to dribble past PSGs first press quite consistently which opened up the game for us, something I feel we struggle with a lot with a Joelinton-Tonali-Bruno midfield. Was nice to see.

My issue with him most of the season is that it seemed to be playing within himself and not asserting himself enough.

Idk if it's confidence in his body or what the reason was but much better recently and hopefully he keeps it up.

Been quite vocal about how most of the midfield need to step up (as do the wingers except Barnes) and it would be very helpful if he can be a consistent performer.

Some of the passes he made against their press were terrifying but also the type of thing really needed to break it. The fact he can do that or beat a man is a great attribute.

The absolute minerals on the lad at 23 seconds

Bear with me for this long winded explanation. But what he does when he plays deeper. Feels very un-English to me. I don’t mean English CM’s now so much. But growing up, I didn’t feel like we had loads of CM’s that took risks like that or demanded the ball all over the pitch. Whereas players from abroad were often more technically gifted and were always showing for it and making themselves an option.

I think it’s even more impressive when you factor in his limited game time and quiet and sort of uninspiring start here.

I thought he was going to come in as a bit of a Willock upgrade and to rotate for Joelinton in certain games. But he gets a bit lost and drifts out of games when wide in the 3.

Small sample size. But when he has played deeper in a 2 or had opportunities to drop in from the midfield 3. It’s when he’s looked at his best. I wasn’t expecting that at all.

Loves a pirouette

That pass to Woltemade wasn't on like. And was stumbling

It was heat of the moment stuff, very few players have the compsure to square it there, but it WAS on. Certainly not going to blame him for that as playing a deft pass when through on goal in a packed stadium in Paris is not exactly the first thing that comes to mind when you have 0.01 seconds to think of what to do, I don't know of a player on the planet that would consistently sqaure it in this circumstance.

But it was on, simple as!
