Do Wolves just sell if the money is good enough? Seems weird that we have confidence we can get him?

I do get the impression we are in do what it takes territory.

They strike me as the kind of club who will sell anyone if the price is right for them.

It's a shame (while also a good thing character-wise!) there's so many apparently good lads in football, every striker in Europe who isn't already at one of the big boys must be open to coming to play for us if it's on the table the chances we create, should be transfer requests and lads on strike all over the place, so fair play to them all for keeping grafting - usual "aye they earn a fuck-ton" disclaimers apply etc

Get Strand Larsen in and then we say to Liverpool that they can negotiate directly with Brentford, we just want 90-100m plus Wissa for Isak.

If it doesn't work out, Isak has noone to blame but Liverpool.

It's like us with Isak. He's "not for sale" unless our valuation is met.

Well, yes, every player clearly has some level of valuation that you will sell for.

But I’d suggest actively negotiating with another club sends out far more ‘player for sale’ vibes, than simply saying ‘this is his valuation, don’t bother coming back unless you’re meeting it’.

Plan E becuase the others either wanted more money or weren’t willing to sit on the bench for Alex to play 99% of the matches he’s fit. I dont love where we are either mate but as you’ve seen from me before I’ve done layman’s research on goal scoring records amongst players in Europe and JSL has a decent one.

Shocked you’d disagree with my point, 2 point blank headers a proper striker puts away in those two matches. Weren’t half by any stretch. A stronger CF puts away a cut back Gordon got to last night as he uses his strength to get in front or strikers movement to get there earlier (no knock on AG who I thought did well in both).

Not trying to pull you up on anything either mate, just my opinion of course. Budget is for the bean counters at Barrack road, not i. I do enough of that in my day to day and as of this week I’m really tired of worrying about it for NUFC. This summer in the transfer market has properly drained the life out of me just wanna watch football and talk football only.

Don’t ever worry about pulling me up on anything I’m always there to be shot at  As long as it’s reasoned which you have been.

I’m going to stick to my guns on the two high crosses as I feel the pace and trajectory IMO are only ever half chances which is what i feel is maybe really differ on. Maybe I’m too generous to forwards but a goal scoring chance and good goal scoring chance to me are very different.

Elanga has fluffed the only good goal scoring chance we’ve created in two games that I recall. Everything else has been half chances (Gordon’s two headers and his tame shot at Villa from edge of box) along with other scrambles or contested balls (Bruno’s and Osula’s goals). In short stick Isak in the same spot and we are no better off in my eyes. Of course you go further and say different movement or positioning etc but the meat and potatoes of my argument still stands. Whereas Liverpool created 4 clear chances (and nothing else, not even half chances or contested chances) and scored 3 and Pope pushed Wirtz’s shot away fairly comfortably. That’s why I’d like to see a creative attacking midfielder in the team. Maybe Ramsey is they guy once he’s settled in but I’d certainly snap your hands off for another this season.

I hate PSR as much as anyone but the reality is unless we change course then we risk having windows pass us by where we remain inactive I feel until we are in a new stadium. Fee’s and players are being controlled by a select amount of clubs all with their PSR headroom and all these extra clauses that I don’t think should be allowed. There is definitely a concerted effort to keep us in our place with the help of the media. Don’t even think it’s just coincidence.

As for JSL (it is his thread after all!) I might be guilty of judging him when I’ve seen him as not very easy on the eye and I’ve always had a preference when it comes to strikers in teams that create little to have someone quick and reactive (Defoe or even Wilson in their younger days obviously!) than someone from a very small few times I’ve seen him seems steady at everything. Like I say I trust in Howe & Co always but I’d argue because in the previous windows that’s been on his first choices. This is far from it and that is when I worry a bit more because the huge fee doesn’t reflect that and is more than what Chelsea ended up paying for Pedro! A very shallow think back to Bournemouth days and just thinking of that period at the end when they got a bit desperate to replace players (under different circumstances admittedly) you’d have to admit there were a couple of big swing and misses.

Anyway… sounds like £60m gets this done (if Ryder’s tweet is correct!). He’s 3yrs younger than Wissa. No AFCON so extra availability. Scandinavian which should mean he settles comfortably in the North East. Looks better in the air than Wissa and character wise looking through the current lens a much better fit. I’m getting on board with it and taking positives that those who have seen him are convinced he’ll suite our style of play can only be another positive. that and your scouting!

What’s the alternative?

A cheaper, older alternative as a stop gap until Jan/next summer when we can address it properly without being panicked into spending £60m+ on him. If we’re spending so much just as a ‘body’ then I’d sooner keep that money and see the market before the World Cup next summer or see if you can get somebody in January.

I totally get the whole ‘what else do we do’ and the fact we’ve a ridiculous hit rate on transfers, but spending £60m on him does nowt for the argument that our scouting system isn’t for for purpose in 2025. We’ve only got ourselves to blame for having not signed a Wilson replacement.

Hopefully addressed as soon the new DOF & CEO are in the door in 2028.

Relax

Not read the article so sorry if it mentions it but we bid 55 so extra mil won't be an issue.

Been told we will be back in.

He's also told the club he wants to play for NUFC.

Speak to you all about this when it's sorted 😊

Edit just seen the ornstien one so yeah basically spot on.

Sounds all too familiar with Wissa. Wants to join. We’ve bid. Only a few mil away in valuation.
