Yohan Cabaye retires

Thought it was the right thing to sub him, btw.

Only normal to try to give your best players a rest when you're 2-0 up and have a game in a few days time. Ferguson usually starts 'preparing' for the next match once they lead comfortably.

Picked up a strain like Tiote he said.

Very good display. He's extremely clever and decisive in the final third, good to see him further forward.

He seems very tactically aware, always plays the position asked and well, work rate is top class and I think he will get much better next year on the ball. At the moment he is being asked to Chase down and counter rather that sit and dictate, no wonder he sometimes struggles when getting the ball. I think we need more triangles through the team as a few times he has combined brilliantly with Ben arfa n tiote to send us on a run

That perfectly weighted pass for the first goal was class, love out like that

He did play in a more advanced role yesterday, and he got two assists. He certainly had the ability to split defences with his passes, so let tiote do the dirty work and cabaye do what we know he can do further forward

He really was a lot more advanced, a number of times he was about 20 yards ahead of Cisse

Having Jonas and Tiote behind him to do most of the leg work is definitely going to bring out the best in him, especially in games that are less physically demanding on the front-players than chasing Swansea's sideways passes all game. He's a competent defensive midfielder in that he knows where to position himself and works tirelessly, but yesterday highlighted how much he's wasted in that position.

Lovely assurance on the ball, was just good to see him not spend the whole game snapping around trying to win the ball back and doing nothing passes. This is the Cabaye we'll see all next season

A number of times when playing this formation he's the most advanced pressing player like.

Journal say its a hamstring injury:

Rodgers and his men knew the game was up and Newcastle played out the contest perfectly – with only a hamstring injury to Cabaye causing them any great concern
