From NUFC.com:

Having already qualified for next January's African Nations Cup finals, Senegal completed their fixtures with a 2-0 victory over a pointless Mauritius at the weekend.

However the Lions of Teranga won without the assistance of Magpies striker Demba Ba, who linked up with his international colleagues but was reportedly injured.

Friday's training session coverage by the Senegal FA reported that Ba was unable to feature due to a knee problem, while the report on another session 24 hours later stated that, "Demba Ba, still injured, did not participate".

It's yet to be confirmed how serious Ba's condition is and whether it's a new injury or a recurrence of previous problems with his left knee.

Hopefully just precautionary, seeing as it's a bit of a pointless match for Senegal anyway.  We'll struggle if he's out for more than a few weeks.

On the plus side, if he is out for Sunday, it would hopefully mean HBA gets a start.  Could also mean Shola or Lovenkrands play though

Suspect it'll be one of those international injuries that only Man United and Liverpool players are allowed to have when it's England.

Hopefully, strange that he travelled all the way there though instead of pulling out earlier.

I thought it was one of those injuries that saved him from travelling to Mauritius...

Like Anderson has suggested, very strange he went out there if that was the case. Maybe he just wanted to go and see his mates?

Hopefully all is actually well.

Best - Lovenkrands

More likely than Shola at the moment, after Pardew's comments about wanting to reward Peter for his carling cup goals or something.
