Stoke City 1 - 3 Newcastle United - 31/10/11 - post-match reaction from page 52

Recommended Posts

Special mention for Ba kicking off when Huth stuck his knee in Krul,he was getting criticised for it by the commentators but that's what teams who are all fighting for each other do.

Great to see as long as it doesn't go too far.

Got the feeling that Walters (?) said something nasty to Ba in the aftermath, as he very suddenly got really aggressive.

Well, where did that win come from tonight - I certainly didn't see it coming! We were terrific all over the pitch and it's as good a Newcastle away performance in the PL that I've seen for many years. Not many sides will go to Stoke and get a win, nevermind bagging three goals in the process. Jonas was magnificent tonight with his protecting of Ryan Taylor (who was steady again too) Also great centre-forwards performance from Demba Ba. Will be all the sweeter for him tonight after the stick he took.

Onwards and upwards. :coolsmiley:

Predicted four NUFC losses in the last six or something? (Happy to be corrected if I'm exaggerating  I'd genuinely like to know tbh)

There wasn't any sound in the pub I was at because the pub quiz was on over the speaker system, but the Stoke fans at the other side of the bar from me kept making the "OOOOOF" noise whenever Delap threw the ball in, absolute mongs.

Loved the fight we had tonight, we battled them and weren't taking any shit from the tactically inbred of Stoke. Why they would boo Ba is cretinous, because as Demba so succinctly put it he was there to sign for them.

Krul 8- Toughest game thus far for him, I'm still unsure why Man United spunked 19m on De Gea when there was two better Dutch keepers available.

Simpson 7- Steady, just got rid and did the simple stuff, don't really remember Etherington getting anything from him.

Coloccini 7.5- Was too clever for their strikers and even mugged Pennant on the byline ,what a guy.

Taylor 7.5- Even wearing a mask he was happy to head the ball all night long, he's come such a long way from last summer.

R.Taylor 7.5- Same as his namesake, kept it simple but also was happy to take a smack and get us a freekick.

Jonas 8- We know he works hard, but on a cold wet night in Stoke he proved Argentines do perform.

Cabaye 7- Tidy enough game, lovely through ball for Ba's chance but I don't think this was his type of game.

Guthrie 7- Composed and got through some running which is great to see, very calm on the ball too.

Obertan 7- Difficult to judge he didn't do a great deal, but he also set up the opening goal. His pace was an asset.

Best 7- The ball just sticks to him, he might not have got the goals but he was part of a fantastic attacking unit.

Ba- 8.5 -3 chances 3 goals. Worked hard used the crowd to spur himself on and was a huge threat for us.

Perch 6.5 played a part I guess but didn't change my opinion of him.

Gosling 6.5 steady, was a time wasting sub really.

Sammi 6.5 put a steady shift in but didn't see much of the ball.
