hakka
Best team? Debuchy Mapou Colo Santon Anita Sissoko Cabaye Ben Arfa Gouffran/Marveaux Cisse Sadly, not a single English player in sight. Top English clubs/league and has little to do with English football or players, except for the fans and the club history it seems. What on earth are we supporting these days? just making random good footballers from around the world millionaires I suppose.
Guest tollemache
Well, here is one of the benefits of having a club that supports itself financially. Unlike certain other Premier League sides, what we have at Newcastle is a club whose current relatively lofty position is directly attributable to its history and its support. What you're doing, at the very least, is continuing that, and that's what the Chelseas and Man Cities don't have. I'd go as far as to say that "Man City" as such doesn't really exist anymore. Abu Dhabi FC has simply inhabited its skin, killing it in the process, in order to compete in the Premier League. A bit like the bit in the Matrix where agents teleport themselves into random civilians in order to get closer to the action. Nothing Man City or any of their fans have ever done has any bearing on their current position in the game, they've just been invited to transfer their affections from the Man City they were responsible for growing to a new behemoth with the same name. Tiresias
It's the fault of our football system completely failing to train players of premiership quality in general more than anything, that and ridiculous money sloshing around. I don't agree it makes teams any less likeable though, you only have to look at some of teh right wankers of players we have produced and look at Krul, Cabaye and Ben Arfa and think that we're not just producing bad players but players with out of control egos too. Not to say Steven Taylor and all aren't likeable but I am very fond of this team still, seems miles more likeable than our team when we went down, with less english players
Belfast Mags
I'm struggling to think of a more likeable side we've had (in terms of personalities) Only one I detest is Ranger and that's OK because he isn't getting anywhere near this team. We've signed not only good players recently but good people to boot. Happy days

ExiledGeordie
I'd say he's probably been doing light running over in France at the centre he goes to recover over there (Clairefontaine?) Next phase will be light training ball work and basic practice stuff then they'll up it practice matches as the last phase in the recovery.

Ikon
I wouldn't risk him against Spurs, he might be fit but i would still let him wait until we play Southampton (24th february) Not prepared to take any chances.
captainhaircut
Unleash him on Metalist at home. That gives him a week a half rest after to destroy Soton.

BeloEmre
From todays Journal: They also have the return of Hatem Ben Arfa in three weeks to look forward to.
ExiledGeordie
Well there's a 2 week break after Spurs before the Southampton match so that would make sense really. As someone mentioned in this thread they won't want to risk him with a run out at Spurs unless he's absolutely 100%. They simply can't afford another set back like the Fulham one so you'd hope they'll be extra cautious and use that extra 2 weeks.
Guest VanBarduck
I don't think it will be same as Taylor and Cabaye , meaning we won't comeback at Benton to train alone and rehab himself , no when he'll comeback , he'll train normally and be involved during oppositions , cause he already done his rehab at Clairefontaine , he spendt two weeks Monday-Friday at Clairefontaine rehab facilities , he's running for 2 weeks now , so being on the bench against Spurs is a strong possiblity for him..
