Bugger was hoping it was a relegation release clause. If he signs a new contract (and I suspect he will), the clause won't exist. Says we've been considering him ever since he came to the club but had been out of our reach financially. Saying with him, Cabaye, Demba, Hatem...things really starting to look exciting. Plays off the shoulder and in behind, but has a lot more to his game than that. Good size and can score left foot, right foot and header. Very significant signing for football club, shows the position we are in when a player they think is right they can make the move. Was on the list as soon as Carroll left. Been out of our reach, but we were able to react quickly. Good pressure on the current players, let's see what they do (he was in a similar situation with Geoff Thomas at Palace). Plays off the shoulder to go in behind, but more to him than that, quick, and can score from balls from the side with his head but also two good feet. Didn't talk about him to Demba as it can be unfair to put players in that position. Prime of his career, not young so has had pressures before. Perhaps the lack of ambition we showed in selling Carroll and weakening in the last transfer window, as opposed to strengthening like we (so far, I hasten to add!) will mean the Coloccini situation doesn't end up like the Enrique one?
