We must also show belief in and respect for one another. That is the approach that has brought this club so much success in recent history, and one that we will not veer from now. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately.” That is probably the most shade thrown at a sacking statement i've seen in a while. The comments at the weekend where proper wank mind. I don’t think they were wank, more to do wth Parker’s lack of emotional intelligence. At least, in his defence, he was being honest. Can’t believe they wouldn’t let him apologize or walk back some of the comments.

Super Duper Branko Strupar
Bournemouth fans broadly seem to be happy he's gone going off their forum at least. Didnt like his attitude generally and shit jumpers. Sound switched on. What you think @cherryred

Bit like Jordan Henderson and Sunderland bit on a less elite level scale.
STM
From the outside Parker has come across as a right selfish cunt. He's basically decided that Bournemouths failure, can't be his failure. He can't be seen as a manager that got relegated again and thrown his players under the bus. While he is right that this squad isn't good enough, he should have resigned in the summer when he knew he wasn't getting loads of dosh. It's interesting that he gets loads of support within the media and I must say I was duped into thinking he might be a good coach but then I remembered what he was like at Newcastle, the second it got tough he jumped ship. Perhaps this will be a master stroke from Parker, because his next job might actually be a PL job, he'd probably get an Everton job or whatever but you know the saying a cunt never changes his spots... or something like that. Bournemouth should look at what Leeds did. Find someone with energy from elsewhere, who could potentially bring them back up next season, should they go down. Kid Icarus
Is it really all that different to what Rafa used to say and that we as a fan base overwhelmingly backed him to the hilt on?
gbandit
There’s a way to say it where you talk about strengthening the squad and then there’s a way of saying it where you completely undermine your players. The way Parker talked about it, it sounded like he was calling out his players as nowhere near good enough
McCormick
It’s a much stronger league this season than it’s ever been, I do get that but as Bournemouth fans you don’t want your manager coming out with such defeatist comments game after game. They have a stronger squad than Eddie had and look what he achieved with a bit of positivity and bravery (caveat being the league wasn’t as strong back then). Understandable that Parker wanted more but when it became apparent that wasn’t forthcoming he should have publicly backed his squad to succeed. Reeks of salvaging his own reputation by getting his ready-made (albeit probably warranted) excuses in place.

Slightly different in the “size” and potential of both of the clubs, surely? Bournemouth- without trying to be too condescending- are a well-run club punching above their weight. Rafa could see we had more in us but lacked the ambition and desire to do better.

The difference is context. Bournemouth are a club that are building to become a PL club, Newcastle were already a PL and had massive resources before MA arrived. It's the same when people talk about Man Uniteds owners and say "look but they have spent 200m". Lost is the context about where they are and where they have come from. Don't get me wrong, you do have to question why the likes of Bournemouth or Norwich think that you can come up from the championship and not have a slightly more ambitious plan yet still expect to survive. Brighton and Brentford are the benchmark for the smaller clubs coming up.
STM
There was nothing stopping Parker resigning after promotion and saying he wanted to try a "new project" or whatever. Kicking off 4 games into a season, knowing what he had signed up for is the issue.
Kid Icarus
I agree that the devil is the details and context is everything, I'm just not sure the context is anywhere near different enough for Rafa to have been justified and Parker not.

The owner stated that he was selling up, having nothing to do with the day-to-day running of the club, so brought Lee Turnbull (former player in) to do that job. Keith Hill hates LT, so started only dealing with Swann (owner). Swann then starts having more involvement with the club again behind Turnbull's back. Not a chance the club will exist in another 12 months. Criminally mis-managed by Swann. His only goal was to build a new stadium with plenty of business and leisure opportunities to fund his own business. Up there with Ashley for wanker status. Consortium of one
That was a tough run of games for The Cherries. If Parker hadn't let things boil over he'd still be there. Then again, maybe he didn't have the stomach to stay.

I am not saying Parker's points are wrong. But there is a difference between a multiple leagues and European cups winning manager stating "I know what it takes and currently the owners are not backing me" and Scott Parker stating that. Pilko
To be fair to Parker imagine the effort and energy expended in getting out of the Championship, Saturday-Tuesday every week, only to be told "nah we'll let the same set of players get tanked every week in the big boy league". No excuse from the ownership.
