prefabtoon
Southgate must have been given the heads up on this from the FA before naming the England team.

One good game from Toney and the knives were coming out over Southgate's selection. Had he picked him, the knives would have come out over this. No wonder they call it "the impossible job". The Man City game showed why he's gained a reputation but hasn't convinced Southgate or the big clubs, who don't seem that interested, judging from the lack of transfer links. Two decent but fairly basic finishes and then he fluffs an easy chance through a clumsy touch on the ball.

LFEE
Wonder how it’s come to light. Wouldn’t be surprised if someone competing for his spot got wind of it and had their agent let it slip. Southgate clearly was unaware when he picked him for the two games prior to the tournament. Wonder if it was during that time it was leaked or just recently. Dandy Man
Is there any actual proof he has bet on matches involving himself (and on himself to get a red card) - other than coincidence of dates? I assumed he was casually punting on football, if a player really wanted to get into spot fixing for profit then it would not be too hard to cover your tracks with just minimal effort. It seems to just be some creative play based on the known dates. I highly doubt he's been stupid enough to bet on anything involving Brentford. He'd be finished, Shirley? Geordie Ahmed
Aye I'd be very surprised if the bets are involving his games. I'm sure the reports stated that none of the bets were involving his teams.

Dandy Man
Given how many footballers gamble and how prominent football is as a betting product, should gambling firms restrict a customers access to football betting products if the customer is known to be a professional footballer? Obviously can still just bet via an intermediary but given the effort firms now put into monitoring and verifying customers identities it seems like would be fairly easy to do.
