It’s an archaic law that hasn’t been updated; it’s strange because pet shops and breeders here will legally sell you any breed you want. *It’s usually just a formality but certain dog breeds are banned so it can sometimes be a bit of a faff. I cant think of a single club prepared to pay 45m and then have to negotiate a wage with him. They'll equally struggle to move on Maguire, I'd see him loaned until his contract ends, their pure greed is the reason players like Phil Jones stunk the place out for years. I'll be honest, putting aside the usual awkward conversations about it being SA, I can't get outraged at the impact on Europe in a footballing sense. What are they doing that European teams weren't already doing? It's just European teams that can be blown out of the financial water for once. GeordieDazzler Posted July 25, 2023 Share Posted July 25, 2023 Big part of what they are trying to do is be a premium tourist destination for the Muslim world, the league is partially a tourist attraction in service of that. It’s why they have targeted a fair share of Muslim players, if they get Mane as rumoured then they’ll be a Salah away from having the four biggest stars in that regards. We aren’t really the target audience here - it’s Middle East and North Africa. Whether they can run at a massive loss indefinitely or if that is actually the plan remains to be seen. We, the Europeans and Americans, will only talk about the Saudi League once a year - during the transfer window. Otherwise it’ll be something that is happening somewhere else half a world away and we won’t even know any results or anything. We might watch some highlights now and again.
