Miguel Almirón

Talent wise as well tbh. Just we’ve only seen him used properly a handful of times under Bruce.

Still think he comes behind ASM and Wilson in that regard, but he’s up there.

Your favourite player doesn't have to be the most skillful

Nut said “talent wise”, like, which is fair enough?

Think ASM and Wilson are miles better in an attacking sense personally but if he puts in that much of a shift defensively every game its going to be a massive plus

Can’t disagree with this. He creates loads of room for them with his runs too though.

Almiron causes problems for teams in his actual position of behind the striker. West Brom away in the FA Cup last season he played there, scored a brace and played a key part in our 3rd goal. Bruce takes him off and we almost fall apart, conceding 2 before seeing out a 2-3 win. And again v Leeds the other night, he caused them problems, scored, then Bruce brings Gayle on and puts Almiron back out wide and we fail to get a foothold back in the game.

Hopefully we keep this quasi 4-3-3 moving forward, we looked after the ball better and were a threat throughout the game today while still being organised out of possession. No need for Bruce to shit himself due to injuries or because we're playing a team higher than us in the league and go with 5 at the back which we barely win using, saps the effectiveness of Almiron, Lewis, Wilson et al.

He’s clearly not the most talented player at the club, enthusiastic yes. Put a great shift in today, if he had a bit more talent he wouldn’t be playing for us.

Having watched him prior, we havent even scratched the surface with him. Might have broken him enough to never realise it but we haven't seen what he is fully capable for sure.

He's one of the most talented players beyond much doubt. It's not like we've got that many.

Aye. He was just beginning to settle when Rafa left and his performances were pretty good, and he was clearly enjoying himself.

Then the arrival of Bruce. All of a sudden his familiar smile started resembling more of a grimace. One of the main reasons I couldn't watch anymore, same with Schar.

Didn't the ruptured one say he had to learn how to play right wing in a 442?

Yep. Just because he’s not a bag full of tricks like ASM for instance, doesn’t mean he’s not as good/effective.

He was fantastic, I love watching him. I sometimes think 'this can't be sustainable though' - like there must come a time where his energy levels dip a bit and he could even be forgiven for getting pissed off his effort isn't matched by some of his team mates. But no, every week he leaves it all out there. Not many like him around still.

Runs his bollocks off and seems to have a free role. Him being so one footed and no longer wanting to run past players is sometimes a hinderance, mind. He has the pace and footwork to beat people. But rarely seems to do it.

One thing that is great to see. Is that he has a free role in an attacking position. But works hard for 90 minutes. Things like tracking back and tackling Townsend fairly late in the game. Fair enough he was maybe a bit deeper by this point. But it’s great to see and means it ‘should’ be hard for Bruce to drop him or change his position yet again.
