Unless its an internal suspension, bit weird I did suggest this yesterday that if we going to be suspended at all it would be for a friendly
xLiaaamx
Insane rule. We had a Portuguese ref playing against a Portuguese side. How is any suspension he gives out deemed fair.
AyeDubbleYoo
It’s extremely silly that cards in friendlies mean anything. What happens if he gets sent off in training… has to miss the next session?
Geordie Ahmed
It does seem ridiculous but fortunately not a massive deal as he'll just play on the Saturday
gbandit
To be honest, giving a red for a friendly is off and the Ref was a little bitch last night. However, that challenge was deserving of a red card and I don’t have an issue with him missing a friendly because of it

I mean, these fixtures don’t even officially have to exist… they’re more like training sessions.
TBG
So would he miss games if he gets sent off for taking his shirt off after scoring the winner in the World Cup final?

I wonder if the club has publicised that we've proactively suspended him for Atalanta to attempt remove any prospect of him being suspended for Forest, in case there is such a mechanism. AyeDubbleYoo
Yeah possibly. As with so many things in football, I don’t know what the actual rules are.
madras
I'm still trying to find out if any punishment would ha e been different had it been a straight red for violent conduct. I'm sure it used to be.

TRon
I thought him and Bruno were pretty clumsy last night. Hopefully it was just an off day, really no excuse for that sort of recklessness in a friendly.
Kanj
Giving a red in a friendly is so weirdly unproductive unless it was serious shit and purely intentional. Joe went in hard and late and he should’ve had a huge talking from the Ref and they should have continued play. It’s so stupid. “Oh let’s now make him serve a suspension” in a friendly game where both squads pay for this match to happen.

gdm
Has anyone ever been sent off in the Community Shield? That’s a glorified friendly. What about International friendlies?

TheBrownBottle
Roy Keane and Ivanovic are the other red cards I can remember in the Charity Shield I wish we’d had 5 red cards in ‘96 and got to just end the match early
mighty__mag
Although its bollocks, and that Ref was a nutter, Joelinton did come on like he was intentionally going after people. The red was deserved in fairness.

Hanshithispantz
If we get Maddison and Bruno moves into the middle I wonder how Big Jo would do as an RCM instead of a LCM? I get that part of it's to cover Maxi like. Edited July 31, 2022 by Hanshithispantz

Smal
Every time I watch him I’m still waiting for the mask to slip and him to go back to being shit but it just doesn’t happen. He’s brilliant and every bit a £40m midfielder. Edited August 6, 2022 by Smal
pubteam
He protects the defence , drives the ball forward and his passing and crossing have moved up another level. Joe must be one of Eddie's biggest achievements so far, turned a below average player into a world beater. Edited August 6, 2022 by pubteam
Tiresias
He is so good at head up defending too, he wins the ball and starts the attack in one motion. Such good reading of the game.
