Who would honestly want to come? The club now seems to be viewed as toxic, and it's becoming evident the Premier League and other clubs want to make life very difficult. The high risk of relegation won't help either.

It's a big challenge, but that's exactly why it'll be appealing to potential candidates.

They clearly don’t perceive the Bruce we see or are concerned about the optics in the pundit and ex pro community.

If they've spoken to Shearer about the managerial situation then it's likely he's defended Bruce, which definitely wouldn't have helped

Caulkin as well, although I'd like to think he simply said give him his 1000th game then give him his pay off at worst.

Who would want to come to the richest club in the world? I have a feeling there would be some interest, especially if they saw the hair raising welcome the new owners got on Sunday.

I want him gone as much as anyone, but it's important not to carried away.

We're not in trouble yet, the worry is that if they give him too many games we will be. They might want a replacement in first, but how long is this going to take? Do they want to recruit for other key roles first?

The worry is the uncertainty, with that in mind I think its important not to get carried away with what the press are/aren't saying. They've shown over the last week they're using educated guess work to keep the material coming.

While I disagree with the decision not to remove Bruce immediately, I think its important to remember the consortium aren't from a football background. That's exactly why they want an experienced CEO and sporting director. The decision making process will become a lot smoother once they're in place, so while I feel they've got this particular decision wrong I won't be drawing any conclusions about how the club will be ran going forward.

I thought this too until Carragher actually highlighted how kind the fixture list has been (I've barely paid attention until the takeover went through) + the fact we still have to play Liverpool, Man City & Chelsea twice. That's 6 games with probably 0 points - so that will be 14 games with 3 points. It leaves 24 games to get probably 37 points. Not impossible but it's extremely worrying now.

Can't see us getting anything from Palace either FWIW. We need points fast.

If they're asking Shearer or Caulkin for that kind of advice they're already making a mistake. TBF to them they don't have any football people in place yet.

Yet Rangnick is apparently making himself available.

We could definitely still get relegated, better be mentally prepared.

I already see this season as damaged to the point that we may not stay up. We are asking a lot of any top name manager to come in and get results with what is frankly a low quality, low mentality, poorly conditioned squad that is going to take a while to fix, plus the January market is slow.

it’s quite a lot to ask a top manager to stake their reputation on.

I think, given what we know the idea was Benitez would drive a lot of the footballing side. all the advisors PCP have seem to be extremely close to him which says a lot imo.

This is a really good point actually. Think the idea was for Rafa to pretty much take charge on setting everything up and bringing in the people he wanted, and with he takeover slowing down considerably and Rafa going elsewhere, once it went through all of a sudden they had to start from scratch with alternate plans perhaps.

Aye. This club either needs a manager like Benitez, who is knowledgeable, adept and experienced enough to not only manage the team on the pitch, but essentially the club, or a structure in place to run the day to day off the pitch and have a manager who focuses on just the team. With Benitez no longer an option we either have to find someone as good, as willing, and as able to bring good people with him, which is unlikely, or get in management staff such of DoF, technical director etc and a new manager for them to work together. Which is going to take time.

Given it sounds like Staveley and Reubens got a call on the Monday or Tuesday about the takeover potentially happening, to then confirm it on Thursday, that's not much time to solve those issues. Especially when plan A went out the door and it doesnt sound like they felt any need for further planning, given they were all set to return to the courts in January.

I'm sure it's frantic trying to get an initial structure in place. They're starting from absolutely nothing and the urgency is pressing.

I’m not fussed if we get relegated. Yes fans will laugh at us but they won’t realise it is Ashley and Bruce putting us in a bad place this season.

Rafa showed how we can regroup effectively in the Championship.

Equally I’m not fussed if we hire Redknapp or Hodgson or someone else on a £5m for 17th contract, with it being clear that they won’t be retained beyond this season.

When did/does the he’s gone in “48 hours” time out?

This evening if we go by when Ando7 posted.

It’s unclear whether it was just his opinion or itk info though.

It's vital Bruce goes before the Palace game. Owners have been here two weeks, yes we need to trust the process and be patient with certain things but replacing Bruce is urgent.

From the Craig Hope article it seems Bruce has lost the dressing room, we all want him out and him being here is having a negative impact on the club. 7 wins in 38 games it's relegation form. He antagonizes the press and fans and is way out of his depth. Keeps saying he's a fan and wants what's best... No he wants his big pay out as he knows he will likely never get a job in the Premier League again ... He's a laughing stock

See Eddie Howe is linked .. yes we would take anyone over Bruce right now but Howe's teams defences were poor too, lots of goals conceded... We need someone to get the defence back on track as we are letting goals In for fun, it's a championship back four.

Look at the Dugout every game, it's Jones giving instructions and motivating while Bruce looks on hopelessly... We have a very tough Christmas period and if Bruce doesn't go soon we are going to be adrift at the bottom.

Back to back games against Norwich and Burnley in early December and we need to win both of those. January is massive, we need significant investment and to get players through the door which will be easier if we are 13th-15th rather 18-20th

This season we just need to stay up even if it's by just 1 point ... We can have hope for the future but the main thing now is take it game by game.
