He was scouted and recommended by another scout prior to Bruce, the deal was already in place. By the time Bruce rocked up he had very little control of any of the comings and goings. Carroll may have been his pick as Austin had been identified as the choice for a striker. Took Debuchy a few months to settle but he’s probably the most complete right-back we’ve had. Could defend and great going forward. Beye similar level. Last season he found himself in a crossing position quite frequently and, like Yedlin, his delivery was awful.
