80 million ish 🤔 , why does this thread have 160 pages? Never gonna happen.

It’s the thread when we were first linked years ago. When he was no where near £80m

How about this for a theory. The is truth in this and Liverpool being keen on Gordon. Buy Etitike, sell Gordon. It would leave us in a better PSR position and on paper the squad more balanced overall as Etitike can play on the left and is a proper striker.

There is a lot of talk at the moment about Diaz to either Bayern or Barca. I could see it.

Although I don't know whether or not Ekitike has a strong preference re: playing as a 9.

That’s exactly why I live in North Shields

But Sir Eddie of Howe played it safe and moved to Gosforth (basically Tynemouth without sun and sand and waves)

Cogito ergo sum the reason for our transfer policy

He’s in Darras now.

Christ, RMC. There's a blast from the Graeme Carr past when it came to a good source. No idea what they're like now.

I drove through North Shields a few weeks ago, on a Friday morning, (worked there for six years a couple of decades ago) on way to Fish Quay and there appeared to be a queue of women outside a tattoo shop. Never heard the last of it from (non-Geordie) partner.

Shields Tatoo Parlour Death Queue, sounds like a Sam Fender tune.

Diaz' agent sounds hard at work, either at getting a transfer or at forcing Liverpool into giving him a tasty new deal.

Jota played left quite a bit, which would be an extra factor if Diaz is indeed off.

If they come in for Gordon, it needs to be early enough for us to secure a purple (super purple?) attacker with the money. No point in selling otherwise, whatever the fee.

Barca cant register Diaz. I think he just wants a new contract. Liverpool cannot sell him AND Darwin (who looks likely to leave) when they have already lost Jota.

Hugo Ekitike wants to move to the Premier League

Romano confirmed on his YouTube channel that the 23-year-old was keen on a move to the Premier League despite interest from Saudi Arabia.

He again touted Newcastle as a potential landing spot, though did claim that both Liverpool and Chelsea have been calling the player “for weeks”.

“There is movement on Hugo Ekitike, with interest from Saudi, but the priority of the player remains England,” he said.

“And with Newcastle interested in Hugo Ekitike, there is still interest also from more clubs.

“Because clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea have been calling for the player for weeks, since June, for example, being informed on the situation of Hugo Ekitike.

“Newcastle are also interested in the player, and so we will see what’s going to happen with the Eintracht striker this summer transfer window.”

What Hugo Ekitike has said about rejecting Newcastle United

Speaking to Le Parisien in 2022, Ekitike said: “I’m not setting aside everything Newcastle did for me to come. If I had to go abroad, I would have gone there. But when PSG wants you and you’re French, you can’t refuse.”

I’ve changed my mind, I think we get him this window.

It's tricky, but I have no doubt they're trying for him. Chelsea and Liverpool are looming, but they've shown they aren't afraid to aim high even if it means losing out to other clubs.

Also, something to consider, is a couple of things Eddie Howe has said previously.

  • They will go for players they like when they are available to be had.
  • There's a small pool of players that can improve the first team.

Ekitike at the time we first went for him was reported as being a player Howe liked a lot. He is essentially a souped up version of Joao Pedro, and we went to £50 million for him.

It's going to be really tough, but if things fall our way, just maybe.

If not, it will be probably be someone else of a high level, that can play in that support striker role, who we were also linked with a lot before.

Looking back and the other two names that kept coming up previously, that fit the profile, are Goncalo Ramos and Amine Gouiri. So maybe one of them.

Can see him and Isak linking up and causing havoc
