Gaztoon
Get him on a permanent deal.. its clear bridges are being burned between the player and club... can't see him ever playing for them again after this.
Rich
Where would he play if he did join?

But were we to go that route, I'd love it just a bit more every time we beat Man United. Don't know why, but I'd think it would be more satisfying beating them with a team of superstars. Don't think it mean anything against anyone else. To be able to outspend and overwhelm them would be great. WILL be great

Alan Pardew
He would be an upgrade over Willock but I'm not sure he fits into Howe's system. Same with Willock actually
andyc35i
Yeah I’d have him playing from the right side in the 4-3-3 system
Alan Pardew
Then he would be better than Fraser for sure.
Anderson
Is this LB from Leverkusen we're targeting more of a WB? If he was to play in a 3, imagine he'd be more suited to a 3-4-

andyc35i
Pretty farcical that Man Utd would stand in his way when they have no intention of playing him - they are just trying to screw us and the reports seem to suggest that Lingard knows that’s what’s happening

Doubt we'll get another striker as nice as it would be. Wood/Wilson ASM Lingard Joelinton Bruno Willock/Shelvey Lewis Schar New CB/Lascelles* Trippier Dubravka *Unsure whether we will get another CB and don't think Lascelles will be dropped when fit as much as he should be. huss9
so glad we got tripper in early doors. i think he's gonna be sounding out only positive reports of how great it is up here. bet lingard wouldnt have been interested otherwise unless the money was ridiculous. nufcjb
Would still have him here despite us getting our own Bruno now. Another option for goals and attacker. We need as many quality players in for the months ahead and Lingard is better than Fraser if not Willock. Edited January 28, 2022 by nufcjb
madras
Just had a quick look on Red Cafe and it seems that Man Utd's players have a fair bit sympathy with Lingard, don't be surprised if this goes to the wire. DMLeazesender
If its true it seemed Manure were trying to hold us to ransom if Lingard helped us stay up. I think the signing of Bruno (along with Trips and Wood and any other which come in) kind of takes that threat/lever away. Might take another 2 or 3 years but I can't wait until we pass them in the league. Horrible bastards. Have never recovered since Taggart retired and I hope they never do. Manchester United had drawn criticism when it was revealed they had asked for a £12 million bonus fee to be part of any loan switch for the 29-year-old if Newcastle avoided relegation. That fee is now believed to be negotiable, opening up the possibility of a fourth signing arriving at St James’ Park in January after Kieran Trippier, Chris Wood and potentially Guimarães. Maybe one for deadline day like some have said

Xa9as
Can see Lingard deal going to deadline day. Man United are in a bad position to be negotiating from. Lingard's probably about 7 or 8 choice attacking player with 6 months left on a deal, and wants out... If MU don't sort a deal for him to leave, instead of getting money into the club, he's just going to cost them by seeing out his contract and bonuses. Thiago
He's said to be n 75k a week. If he stays he's going to cost them £1.5m in wages plus bonuses if he plays and a loyalty bonus when he goes. I also wouldn't rule out the bad optics if he stays and doesn't kick a ball. I think this might get to January 31 and they'll panic.
Yorkie
I can't picture a teamsheet without Shelvey's name in it as Howe has made it clear from the word go that he's a crucial part of his setup. However, given how well Joelinton has come on, it doesn't feel that mad to suggest the he and Bruno could function as the double-pivot in a 4-2-3-1, with Lingard off Wood and ASM/Fraser either side. Lingard, if he were to sign (which, like a few others, I can see happening late in the day) could turn up on the right like folks have suggested but it doesn't seem like a natural position. I do wonder - given who and what we've been linked with - if Howe is ultimately aiming for three CBs and wing-backs. At the World Cup Southgate played something like a 3-1-4-2, which we could just about replicate (including with two of the same actual players from the team!) if we were to get the other defensive additions he's been after. Walker Stones Maguire Henderson Trippier Young Lingard Alli Sterling Kane Carlos Lascelles Botman Bruno Trippier Bakker Lingard Joelinton Wood Saint-Maximin
