Scraps is being very generous. He wasnt brought in to play at all and the midfield didnt really help out in that regard. Then we have the wide players not fucking able to pass 2 meters to an open player. Wood was in the same position, feeding off scraps. He will find it very frustrating playing with such bad/non existent service from our wide.

Needs support. Too isolated for most of the game. Both our 8's have to go higher in the pitch.

Isak's movement could be a bit better, Shearer pointed it out at half time, but we're not getting him involved enough. If the opposition are putting two on him, someone else should be free and be able to drag them around. In a game with 70% possession and 20 shots, we need our main man to shooting more (three) than our center halves (Schar, also three).

great pen, but his lack of physicality was really on show today. Hes got too much ability on the ball to have him sitting between the 3 CBs all game. that doesnt play to his strengths. Think Howe should have brought on Wood earlier to do the dirty work in the box, and let Isak play a withdrawn role to pick up the ball a bit deeper and let him run at defenders and create.

 

think we'll see the best of him when wilson and ASM are back in the side

Was a game more suited to Wilson as a CF. And another proof that Howe has to find a way to play them both when Wilson comes back. Isak's abilities should work at wide forward too.

Was a bit frustrating how little he went looking for the ball considering the lack of service. Thought that was a huge part of his game but he never got going really.

He was marked tightly by their defense and he had two useless players playing to his right and left, for a young striker coming into a new league you w\ would ideally liked that those who are more seasoned than him to take some pressure off, but its Almrion and Fraser we are talking about so that puts a huge amount of weight on his shoulders.

I'm rating him on saying no to Trippier then banging home his penalty. A lot of confidence. Needs to impose himself on the game more, drop back to let other layers get into positions ahead of him. Once he started coming deep we really threatened them today, should have switched Almiron and Fraser for more chances at a quick cross.

 

Played a lovely ball to the right channel at one point, can't remember who to.

Sure there were a couple of reports when we bought him saying he really struggled against teams that sat back and played like Bournemouth did today. He'll thrive against the more open teams.

He's learning about the team and the league. Still, I'd like him to impose himself a bit more on others to get what he needs from games. No point being passive.

While Isak was preparing to take the pen you could see Trippier in the background, not looking. Tried my best not to  read into it as he might have turned around when the penalty was taken. Unfortunately At the point that the penalty was taken, Amelie snapped my aerial and through it in the gutter, so I didn't even see it hit the net, or anything after.

We can't afford to have him doing too much of that as we would have no one in the box that can finish.

 

Not to mention we had more than enough of the ball in forward areas, and so didn't need him dropping in just for the sake of it.

Well so far he averages a goal every 1.5 games, so on par with Kane, Salah etc over the course of a season.

Will have to watch the re-run of this game on tv, he didn't seem to get the ball at his feet in the right areas to do much damage. At times you were left wondering if Wilson would have sniffed out more chances, but then you remember he was feeding off scraps as well.
