Mole Posted November 23, 2025 Share Posted November 23, 2025 After what I saw yesterday the fullback depth is absolutely paramount, they're class but the drop off shouldn't be as big as it is. They allow us to maintain pressure much more consistently, create more chances and the much maligned wingers look much better. It was actually crazy how much difference they made in those areas. The defense has always needed major surgery not because what we have isn't good but how old the back line is kraft has had more than 1 year extension likewise schar last year. Come summer BDB is in his last year, Trips how long has he got at the club then targett will be officially released come the summer, has been repeated rumours around lascelles future too. Can't keep kicking the can down the road forever but we also cant spend all our money on that area. Disappointing that none of the youth setup hasn't pushed more so sounds like its purchases not promotion from within thats required. Osula has shown that hes good enough to command a fee from abroad but just not good enough for where we are at.. And id be really interested to see who they go for at fullback, since both of our fullbacks are essentially our long term options. Do they go for experience or for a young project player. I think Trippier is decent cover but it's when it's him and Burn, we lose so much. So a left-sided understudy to Hall is what we need. Mind you we'll have done well if we can find someone who's both good cover for Hall and happy to be an understudy to a 21-year-old. Might have to be someone who can play multiple positions. I think with Tino’s ability to play left back we should prioritise the right side, this kids going to be special but top clubs starting to circle.
