Feel a bit conflicted because despite a brilliant solo goal, that miss of an open goal might be more of an indictment of him as a player.

At least he went at it today when he came on. More of that son.

I think the good outweighs the bad here - finally scoring for us with that great goal will definitely give him a boost. You could see his confidence was up even after that sitter. Hopefully it's a platform for him, hope he starts on Saturday.

Really needed to score that sitter, poor guy got an instant confidence killer after that class goal

Brightest he's looked though over all - green shoots hopefully

The bar is really low, granted and he’s not a £55m quality winger and don’t think he’s going to be but I really want it to work for him here. Got a huge soft spot for him for some reason. And tbf to him, each time I’ve seen him in 2026 he’s looked motivated; got his head down and trying to play himself into some form when he’s come on. Looked useful too. Just a shame his first goal wasn’t a meaningful one in front of the Gallowgate.

Aye, looks like it's starting, albeit slowly, to click for him.

Agree that I think he needs a big performance at home. Would do him the world of good.

Frustrating thing is that he had the chance against Villa in the opener, the first half against Barcelona when he was fantastic but we didn't score, and the red card he drew against Burnley when he was through on goal. I can't help but think he might have progressed a little quicker if one of those had gone differently.

That was an absolutely mint goal, like; exactly what you thought we were buying. Terrifying defenders and clinical finishing.

I thought the second one was a bit unlucky really; Barnes played it right into his feet at full pelt so he didn't have time to angle it.

Desperate for it to click for him.

The Barnes pass was not only full pelt but yeah just slightly under his feet / behind him so he couldnt take it in his stride. Whatever anyway, the first goal was outstanding and was sufficient evidence to demonstrate his ability.

Tell this lad to back himself and fuck everything else and we can mould him later

That's the drum I've been banging for weeks now. I can accept him making the odd cock up, but he has to run at these defenders like he's going to skin them alive. If he kicks the odd ball 10 yards too far then fuck it. Just get em.

Cracking goal, not going to dig him out for the miss as I think the ball Barnes played across was slightly behind him. Should have had an assist mind for the one he knocked across the goal line.

He was probably the only positive from last night.
