I'm sorry, but if a player has interest in a big club and that club has an interest in him there is nothing we can do in a million years to sign that player by somehow acting before they recognize their mutual interest in each other. This is not the middle ages and people have phones, not carrier pidgeons.

I promised myself I’d switch off this summer and I haven’t done it. Must do it now like.  Not even that arsed about the player it’s more the likes of Romano and sensationalism of it all. Plus this place depresses the fuck out of me.  With all the usual suspects gleefully over this thread to tell us how we’re dead as a club without really knowing what the crack was with this deal

It is like we've learnt nothing from last Summer - nothing.  Maybe PIF are the problem here - as they're not football people yet seem to have to approve every penny.  So slowing the transfer dealings.  Cause I struggle to believe Wilson and Co wouldn't know the need to act quickly - Eddie has said it many times.

As many as you like but last week we were the only offer in place. The Agent chose to leak it. I’m saying if we were a great deal for the agent he’s less likely to leak it.

Agreed, obviously, but by fucking about over a couple of million you’re 1) opening the door and 2) finding out how committed the player is.  If we’d met the release clause three weeks ago we’d have been in a position to understand this sooner - but once again we dither and fuck about, losing time in a window where we need to sign multiple players. 
 

Yes, the system is shit, yes the cartel are going to fuck us over - but it would be canny if we could get that into our heads and move quicker.

Completely agree, I suspect this is the root cause.  Howe, Wilson etc - they’re not muppets.

I mean yes, if we just pay the release clause or initial demand every time instead of negotiating I suppose that at least allows us to move on to other targets faster, but I don't think that's a reasonable tradeoff. That's how you end up with Elanga, Wissa, and Woltemade.

Yup, sick to death of the cartel throwing money at our targets and sick to death of the doom mongers circle jerking over every setback. Always the club's fault, no doubt somehow be Howe's fault too. Think I might have to stick to the WC forum for the duration.
