TRon
I was honestly fearing for our chances when he went off. The midfield was almost non-existent for all the efforts of Bruno and Longstaff.

Guest HTT II
I can’t believe how much he’s turned things around and I feel extremely bad for all the stick I’ve given him, shows I know fuck all about football really. As bad as some players can play and perform, it’s always great to see any player do well after poor starts and especially the good guys, which Joelinton is! Top marks! prefabtoon
Hopefully the laceration he suffered during the Burnley match heals fairly quickly. A deep laceration like joe suffered can take anywhere from 2 to 3 month to fully heal.

His passing stats are much less than what is expected from a Premier League midfielder. I trust Howe if he sees a chance of improving his passing since he is still new in this position, but how much can he improve taking his age into account? To be fair they state in that thread it's not his technical passing ability. It's the decision making on what passes to make. I think that comes with changing to a completely new position and is something that is likely easier to coach.
Tsunami
If you took away his passing stats for the 1st 10 mins of a game and unopposed 10 yard passes those stats would look a whole lot better. So glad they didn’t include stats on how he does in the oppo box ?. And yet, despite all that he’s been fantastic ????
Skeletor
He's not perfect and I couldn't give a shit. He's been vital to the way we play due to his natural athleticism and physicality.
BergenMagpie
Wonder what they include in those stats. Feels like he is getting into so many situations where he is disrupting the opponents play and creating some 50-50 situations duels in plays where the opponent should be comfortably be retaining possession. Obviously his pass completion rate will take a hit whenever he is trying to win those duels and also pass the ball to a teammate.
toontownman
His passing deteriorated and he gave the ball away alot more in the last handful of games. Peaked Jan/Feb imo but was still fantastic. Intrigued to see where he fits in next year.
Stottie
It's interesting and overdue to see his stats when compared to midfielders and not forwards. ASM's worst trait is the same, losing the ball in bad areas, though in ASM's case he should not be expected to be working wonders there. We need to give him the ball higher up the pitch. Joelinton needs to be coached into being more careful with it now he's playing much deeper. It's interesting also that Kev at Statsbomb picked up on Joelinton improving under Bruce. The numbers even then showed that he was best suited to a defensive #10 role, like Mo Diame under Rafa.

I don't think his age is relevant at all considering he's learning a completely new position. Howe's coaching and Joelinton's willingness to improve as a player and hopefully a full pre-season, I'm confident that the won't be making the wrong choice so often next season.
