Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Recommended Posts

I do think that if we really push the boat out and bring in Elanga, Ekitike, Trafford and Scalvini then we've acquired 4 excellent players who will all appreciate in value over the next 12 months. This would be adding to the top players we already have but at least 1 would need to be sold before 30th June 2026. Perfectly happy to get those 4 in and worry about it in May/June, the squad is getting bigger and better and we're starting to get into the position of playing the PSR game for real

Devil's advocate, is Ekitike an improvement on Isak?

Who could ? I mean Isak is already one of the best in the world. Anything close to Isak, playing alongside Isak. That's a scary mouth watering combination.

If we are prepared to keep signing quality players... I can make my peace with selling the odd one every now and then.

In many ways, its actually the sensible strategy.

Realistically, and perhaps pessimistically, the one sold would eventually be Isak you'd imagine. I'd guess we're going to try to squeeze one more season out of him then eventually phase in Ekitike/Osula, if this deal goes through.

It's a sterile as fuck way to view things, and as midds says we can worry about it when we get there. But its undeniable that continuing to push the boat out when we can, adding to the truly top players in the squad will make it much more palatable when one finally has to move on and we've got another 6 or 7 purples still here.

Wouldn’t worry about PSR anymore either. Villa and Chelsea in particular have shown it’s absolutely worthless.

Can always sell the women's team.

The ambition is exciting like, feels like we've properly put our nuts on the table.

You could say we're going well and truly balls out the (transfer) bath.

Being realistic, assuming he signs, its gonna take a few months for him to get up to speed in terms of tactics and fitness and for him to click with his new teammates....but when he does

I am also in the camp that doesnt see how this is pulled off with both Isak and Gordon staying put with further areas to improve.

there are lot of games coming up it will be huge fixture list between August and January once CL draw comes out, but 125m or so on Ekitike and Elanga on paper doesnt leave much for GK, CB, midfielder unnless there is serious income from sales which aint happening from the deadwood.

You’re over thinking it, just enjoy the spending while it lasts.

I dunno, I'm thinking more of maybe Joelinton and/or Gordon. Players come and go naturally, they start to age a bit, become unsettled, want a move, fancy one last big payday contract etc and it wouldn't be the end of the world to lose them and keep the rest and replace them when the next financial year starts on 1st July. Rinse and repeat until we can relax and compete a bit better. We've got to buy the players to trade up with at some point
