I'd rather have Wissa, but this guy's still a good Wilson replacement. He's big, strong, and knows how to score. That's all we need, right? If we can get Isak fired up, those two would be a great duo. Honestly, I don't care how much he costs, I just want someone up front who isn't Gordon and can actually finish the chances we create. I reckon he'd do well here if we sign him.

Then why are we targeting £50m-£60m strikers for that?

I find it hard to believe we can’t pick someone up from Europe for half that. Theirno Barry was half that.

Maybe we didn’t want Barry. Come on Antoine, hop on the Jørgmøbile! Think of the way we can call it a Jørgerbomb if he scores a thunderbastard

They'll sell if we offer near 70m. Even around 60m may do it. The question is should we be offering that much. I say no.

If we don’t we’re playing the season with a one recognised striker who’s currently on strike.

My initial thought was that this was a PR exercise aimed at convincing Brentford that we have moved on from Wissa.

Mine is that we are maybe getting a bit worried they might not sell Wissa after all.

Yes. You don’t spend £60m on someone like Larsen as a rotation option.

The talk around Isak is to help us maintain our strength in negotiations for when Liverpool come back and for us not paying over the price (lol) for a striker.

But if we’re moving for £60m for Larsen, it’s clear to me that Isak is agreed to be sold by end of window and we’ll try and push for Wissa up to end for £45m.

Yeah, I see your point, but that's just how the market is these days. Check out the backup players at the top six clubs, they're all worth over 50 million. Fulham wanted 50 million for Munez, and he was just a backup!

If you're looking for a Wilson replacement (a goal every three games in the Premier League),

You're not getting them for 30 million.

I'd like to think we have some sense that there's a deal to be done if we've bid this much as an opener. Wolves putting it out there that he's "not for sale" strengthens their ability to recruit a replacement without getting fleeced too much (as well as enhances their ability to fleece us ).

Let's take a look at the market. £55 million is the benchmark for a winger with any form of productivity.

The striker market is an even smaller pool with the top end of the market at £70 million to £80 million for young, unproven names.

Larsen is a Premier League striker for 14 goals and 4 assists, with his best years in front of him.

There's absolutely no way a striker of that pedigree, in this market, with us being in the position of desperation we're in is going on the cheap.

Yup.

I think Wolves will be looking at the Joao Pedro deal and are after similar.

He's pretty much the same age as Strand Larsen (just 1 year younger) and Chelsea have forked out £60 million for him i.e,. £55 million + £5 million in add-ons. A fee that we had also bid if I remember correctly.

I think that's what it's going to take in order to strike a deal.

Our striker targets have all been star players at premier league clubs, Ekitike who we’ve been after for 14 years, and Sesko who everyone wanted because he’s been hyped beyond belief. I can’t get my head around what conversations have been taking place.

It all smacks of no competent DOF, and an inexperienced makeshift team being led a merry dance.
