Larsen scored 14 PL goals with Wolves ranking bottom 5 for open-play crosses. The guy thrives on wide service but only 5 goals came from crosses. Imagine the output with better supply.

60m is a lot though. Like a lot a lot.

Agree with this. I think he’d thrive here but we’re gonna have to over pay £10m-£15m for whatever striker we go for and some of that is our own doing.

Im firmly in the just pay whatever it takes to sign a striker now. I also think I’m him over Wissa for the reasons you mentioned.

That's because we are. I also have to say it's hard to be overly critical of the club as they tried to sign their targets early but got rejected one way or another at every step of the way.

What I miss is more creativity when it comes to scouting, surely there's more value for money in the European leagues. Yes we haven't had a proper recruitment team but what is the Moneyball guy doing for example?

Norwegian journo says that the interest is so real that his agent has travelled to England to be ready if anything happens.

No reason is small enough for us to make a case for having travel expenses covered, which we can conveniently combine with going to a football match or more.

Defer to Eddie’s judgment but I really don’t think from what I’ve seen he’ll be anything other than a weakness in the first Xl should he end up there. We can and should do better.

Weaker than no Wilson (even when he played).

£50m :jesuswept:

A quick Wiki check says he's scored the same amount of goals in 37 PL appearances as Ramsey has in 137? The Ramsey deal was pretty broadly praised as smart business? Oh and we're absolutely desperate for a striker.

They are completely different players.

What a ridiculous comparison.

Can you compare a strikers goal record with a midfielder?

It's a ridiculous price but we're in a ridiculous situation. The club have known Wilson was leaving months ago and we're still scrambling around with a week to go. The Isak situation is a shitshow and hasn't helped but we needed another body in regardless of Isak. I appreciate they've gone after quality but, for whatever reasons, we've been knocked back each time. Sometimes you just need to bite the bullet an overpay to solve a huge problem. If you boiler dies in the second week of October you just need to either cough up and replace it or shiver all winter. Whether it's this fucker or Wissa or whoever, the fee is guaranteed to be huge because we have a huge problem to solve

In that analogy, if the boiler engineer had  one in his van right now to replace it for 3k would you take it or say nope, I’ll get one elsewhere and get it fitted for £1k+ less. You’d do the latter.

We may be at the point where we just need to get one striker in to avoid potential disaster.

Provided the players can be sold next year, it is possible to take punts on a number of players and sell or firesale the ones who aren't working. This would be preferable to not having anyone and a grumpy Isak still grumpy.

It was a great effort to get CL and we can't just let Isak and PSR fears destroy it.

Let's take a look at the market. £55 million is the benchmark for a winger with any form of productivity.

The striker market is an even smaller pool with the top end of the market at £70 million to £80 million for young, unproven names.

Larsen is a Premier League striker for 14 goals and 4 assists, with his best years in front of him.

There's absolutely no way a striker of that pedigree, in this market, with us being in the position of desperation we're in is going on the cheap.

Agreed. Quite a few struggling to keep up with realistic valuations.

If the cheaper one couldn't be fitted until the middle of January I'd pay (through gritted teeth) for the pricier one :)

The word coming out of Wolves is that they value him at £75m now. Like Wissa the price is going up daily.
