It's a ridiculous price but we're in a ridiculous situation. The club have known Wilson was leaving months ago and we're still scrambling around with a week to go. The Isak situation is a shitshow and hasn't helped but we needed another body in regardless of Isak. I appreciate they've gone after quality but, for whatever reasons, we've been knocked back each time. Sometimes you just need to bite the bullet an overpay to solve a huge problem. If you boiler dies in the second week of October you just need to either cough up and replace it or shiver all winter. Whether it's this fucker or Wissa or whoever, the fee is guaranteed to be huge because we have a huge problem to solve

If he rejects a contract they might sell.

Again, it will come down to whether Wolves can get a replacement.

Offer them Osula if hes behind Gordon anyway.

Why would they want Osula as a replacement?

Who cares where they come in from

A good player is a good player, forever

I do, because we are now faced with paying £50m+ for a fairly average player, when I am pretty confident there would be much better value elsewhere if we cast our nets a little bit wider.

I'm always very wary of strikers who do well at lower tier sides especially over just 1 season so far for this guy.  It's a different type of striker you need when your signing a 2nd striker.

Honestly, it would be so refreshing to maybe unearth a talent who is under the radar, or looking a bit further afield than the PL at times. Yes we did it with Thiaw, but my days, it feels like there is a mandatory tick box for 'Based in England' on our transfer lists.

The cleverness and bargain hunting that marked those early windows after PIF and Howe came in has vanished entirely. Real lack of imagination to our transfer targets this window and overpriced or gazumped as a result.

Still stunned by Ryder’s tweet. ”Don’t want to be scrambling around near deadline day”. Well wtf do you call this Lee?

I see you are new to Lee Ryder's 'work'

He's referred to here as the GOAT but I'm hoping it's because his writing style is similar to what an actual goat would produce.

Whoever we get now will be an overpay, but its still far better than going with no striker.

Yeah it's just a shame we didn't see this coming and wasted 3 months chasing players we should have known were being targeted by clubs with more pulling power.

I feel like I'm in the minority, but I like him a lot.  He has all the attributes to be very effective in our system

I’ve not watched him anywhere near enough to have a take on him overall but his off the ball work is clearly very good, much like jackson’s. I’d prefer Jackson but I have a feeling Howe would prefer Larsen

I think our setup is is probably one of the best in the league for a striker to come into to be fair. We create a lot of chances and have proper wingers not wide forwards like a lot of sides.

I’m very much not new, but he never ceases to amaze me

Since the takeover we’ve brought in a mix of PL proven players and players from overseas and so far have a very, very good track record of bringing in good players

We clearly do our homework and get it right

I think the Wissa saga is worse than the rejected ones. We have been waiting for weeks on that one.

We've been after Wissa for 6 weeks. It's really beyond a joke how long we've hung around never getting close to the asking price as it goes up and up.

Exactly. What's the difference in scrambling for deals a week before deadline day 🤣

Feels like we're trying to mitigate overpaying for a support striker (Wissa, Larsen) while navigating the Isak situation. I also assume if we get £150mill for Isak, we don't give a fuck and go after a few options that we overpay for. No takers at that price, so we're down to not getting bent over for options further down the list. Sucks, but here we are in PSR purgatory.

Don't want.

No one else is ever paying that sort of money for this guy. We will take a massive hit if we ever want to sell him  on in future.

There has to be better solutions still available.
