I'm not against a bit of a refresh on the scouting/recruitment side when a new Sporting Director comes in.

Align things with whatever Suds is building and we're off to the races.

We're often a club of extremes, and we're now on the precipice of either having no strike force at all until January at least, or having the best strike force in world football by a distance with a re-engaged Isak with Strand Larsen as back up.

Transfer windows are funny, we all get collective amnesia. In June/July it's "things will pick up towards the deadline, clubs will want to do moves" to "ah, it's too close to the deadline, they won't let him move now".

So we have been talking for over a week including yesterday where we talking all day apparently, had 2 bids rejected and preparing a third bid and it's now the chairman comes out and says he won't be sold this window for any price.

Could have told us this August 21st when this thread was created and would have saved a lot of time and effort

You fucking bed-wetter, there’s still 97 hours and 58 minutes until the window closes…

Assuming we CAN sign a new Sporting Director... 😅

Seeing a lot that he "politely" asked to leave. Who do we think has informed the media of the "politely" bit?

The agent to ensure the player doesn't look like a trouble maker? Or the club so the fans don't turn against him should he stay

I feel like i'm in a bit of a fever dream reading some of the comments in here. They're so dour and downbeat and i'm probably the exact opposite

Personally, I actually think we've had a half decent window, we've gotten basically every position we have needed in RW, CM, CB and GK, we just need that backup striker which they're clearly trying to get, they've left it late sure, but no transfer window is ever perfect, and i'm 99% sure we get one in before the window closes. We've also done a lot of work to move on the deadwood which was more than needed, and the floor of the squad has been raised significantly. Coupled with the fact that performance wise we've started really well, i'm quite upbeat about things.

Don't get me wrong, this striker situation is far from ideal, but the whole "The club are useless, and everyone deserves the sack" feels way off to me. I'm guessing a lot of it is down to how the Isak situation has unfolded, and the media having to pop something out their ass every 2 minutes to keep people engaged that whips everyone into a frenzy, or maybe i'm just an eternal optimist, or what is more likely, its somewhere in the middle.

When I think of our striker search I imagine a clown falling down the stairs, getting up and then stepping on rakes on his way to start his car, he turns the engine on and the car blows up.

Maybe the player DID ask politely?

Not everyone does an Isak...

Either way the thread title should read "Player would like move..."

If Isak doesn’t want to play and we want this guy then offer 1 year loan swap.

Everyone (except Isak) wins

How about Wissa and JSL and loan him to Brentford and Wolves for half a season each. As he hasn't played a minute for us think he can play for both of them.

If a player asks to leave you rarely get an adjective describing how he did it

It's clear someone is trying to save a bit of face here

It’s going to end up being Vardy being signed after the deadline closes isn’t it?

Larsen / Wissa are the ones we’ve tried and are not firmly in “OTT price premium for what you get’.

Others we haven’t made formal moves for but are prem based now are:

Watkins / Bowen. Right at upper age, would cost £60m minimum where bids are likely rejected anyway.

Jackson / Solanke. Middling range, where £50m+ could get them but would be unbelievable underwhelming.

Hojlund. Low cost compared to all others and younger, but broken currently as a player.

Outside that, it’s down to signing a winger that could do a job upfront, and aim for a fluid front three.
