There's nothing wrong with being annoyed by the fact that him and his agent let us spend significant amounts of time trying to get him to agree to move here this summer. If they hadn't wasted our time, we could have spent that time moving for another first choice forward target, possibly already signed and bedding in to the squad.

Some of the shit people are coming out with is another matter entirely though

He turned us down in January, it’s probably not that surprising that he didn’t want to be here. More our own fault for chasing him all this time.

Wow really?

It’s not entirely clear, seen it reported as a permanent deal, a loan deal with option-to-buy and loan deal with mandatory purchase. I’m sure it’ll be properly confirmed soon but if it is a loan deal then it’s horrific business

Sounds like a permanent deal?

Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot explained that although the fee PSG have offered is lower than Newcastle's, they could not stand in Ekitike's way.

"We didn't quite reach the sum offered by Newcastle but Hugo Ekitike has always been respectful towards the club," Caillot confirmed to l'Union.

"We are happy to allow him to fulfil his dream."

According to some decent sources, he agreed personal terms. It sounds like it was pretty far along.

I think one of two things has happened. Either his agent has put the breaks on and used our deal to promote his client's name to other clubs or Campos has given his agent a nod and a wink, so he's stalled knowing PSG will come in for him once their house was in order.

Edit: Just checked some of your old posts and you seem to be a serial thread closer advocate, chill out dude lol

Good luck to the lad. Weighing up your options or holding out to see what teams come in for him is completely normal and we'd all do the same in his shoes.

Lad's got the chance to play in his native country alongside a team of superstars. There was only going to be one outcome.

There seems to be an entitlement creeping into our fanbase lately, especially the donuts on twitter. We're simply not a top club yet. It'll come though I'm sure.

Agree 100% from the players perspective but really weird that his parent club would take a chance on him going out on loan for a year with an 'option' to buy if we had bid strong money to buy him.

Goes to show the strength of his feelings for PSG rather than us, imo.

Reims would’ve been much better off with our deal but they’ve clearly stood by him and let him have the move he wanted.

Plus, undoubtedly, PSG have paid the agent what we wouldn’t.

He's a young lad who gets to move to a CL club, stay in his home country at a young age, live in Paris and play alongside Messi, Naymar and Mbappe every day. I can certainly see why he took that option like.

Completely agree - but several on here are desperate to convince themselves it was his agent/Reims/anyone else stopping him from coming.

Once PSG entered they fray, it was a no contest, but we'd had two bids accepted for him in the six months prior to that. Both English and French sources unanimously agree that his agent was difficult to deal with, he's clearly used the club.

Depends how the loan is structured. We're also trying alternative ways to get round FFP with loans + obligation to buy etc, and I'm sure this "option" is more connected to FFP, rather than PSG having an out if he doesn't perform as they had hoped.
